Finally a BCN Youtube update (it's been months since they added a new match). This one is an oldie, a classic match between Efren Reyes and Jim Rempe. 1:10 mins long.

EDIT: What a match! One of the top 3 I've ever seen! DON'T miss this one!!!!

Thanks for posting that Nathan. I was out in California visiting a friend and we went to that tournament. I'll post it up on TubeBilliards, too.

Cheers,
Skippy

That match was a great reminder of just how great of a player Rempe was/is. He was always one of my favorites to watch, but I haven't seen him play for a long time.

not to take anything away from reyes - but this really made me wonder what a monster jim rempe must have been back in the 70's and 80's. If this was towards the end of his career, I'm almost scared to imagine what his absolute prime was.

I think Rempe is wearing the same clothes in this video as he did in the 'How to Run A Hundred Balls' video that he did for Accu-stats. That's kinda wild, isn't it? Maybe I'm just tired.

Haha I saw a friend of mine in the audience, and he looks exactly the same today as he did back then.

Great match. One of the best.

However, one observation. Maybe nobody noticed. Jim Rempe should not have been awarded the opening break. His lag shot was illegal...Efren's cue ball touched the head rail before Jim struck his own cue ball. Can't do that under current rules.

I see this happen once or twice almost every single tournament. I've always wondered why it's never enforced.

Thanks for the great match. Rempe is awesome. He had a great break everytime (except the dry ones) the pool balls were spread everywhere, no problem balls anywhere. I wish I had that break. :D Ron

First, thanks Nathan for posting this terrific match. How did everyone like King James' "floating masse" on that straight in foot rail shot to get shape up table? Brilliant!

At 25:38 they showed Mark Kendle, lead guitarist for the band Great White. That was the band whose malfunctioning pyrotechnics show resulted in 100 deaths at the "Station" nightclub in Rhode Island.

Best,
Brian kc

Un-freaking-real. In a high-pressure situation like that - where if he misses the shot or misses shape, he knows Efren will get out and possibly bury him - that was an amazing shot.

Glad to see that everyone is enjoying this match. It makes me want to watch a lot more older sets that feature players that were before my time.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words (and Rep point), but it's Billiard Club that should be thanked for this. Be sure to support them by rating the video with 5 stars (or whatever the new Youtube rating system is).
