Jay:want to ask you if you ever heard of old timer my the name [horace harper]?? out of middle georgia??heard he would take all comers in and around macon ga, i once saw him and grady shoot about all nite back in 70 and broke about even, hell of nice guy , shoot in some of my tournys when i was running them back yr ago!!i think the guy -or owner of gandy pool tables in macon backed him some??any stories on him??? THANKS STICK

Didn't really know the man that well, but he was a well known hustler and gambler. Yeah, he was friends with Roy Gandy, who owned the table company of the same name. All the top road men went after Horace, who would bet high and could play. Probably the highest profile player in the Southeast back then, along with Billy Johnson, aka Wade Crane.

The Harper brothers owned a room in Eatonton GA circa 1968.
Won a few hundred playing 9-ball and snooker with Horace.
Was treated well enough but 'nice guy' wouldn't be the appellation
that would come to my mind as a description
...the Harper bros were feared in that town

I heard that Sigel and J. Mataya went and played Horace in Georgia back in the 70's one time on the bar box and Horace ended up winning. That's pretty stout.
