Karen Corr is currently torturing her opponent with a soft break, dead corner ball..

Using the magic rack and racking the 1ball on the spot instead of racking high with the 9ball on the spot is a joke for professional poolplayers.

Magic rack is good for 10ball and 8ball, but in 9ball you have to rack high if its used. Eurotour has done this a couple of years now.

I am guessing that Cory Deuel will do well in this tournament, and breaking ultrasoft:thumbup:

Karen plays excellent atm!

7:1 leading now. She has such an excellent PSR and Finish....one of the best examples you could show someone to tell him how it should be!

Love to watch her playing,

Yeah that did look like the Allison of old, which was very nice to watch. Unfortunately, it kinda stinks that Karen couldn't shoot like she did earlier....or even well at all. That would have been the last outcome I would have ever predicted. But Allison played terrific and was on the fortunate side of all the safety exchanges. So now she is in her second straight final and hopefully she does not surrender the win as she did in the World Championship.

Interesting side note, Karen Corr did this exact thing last year--got in the finals of all three international women's events and got second in all three. Looks like Allison is trying to do the same thing, except she's in the finals of last two events. Let's just see if she takes bridesmaid tomorrow. If she plays like that again, my guess would be NO!

This is the first bit of the stream I have seen from the China Open, but it sure seems like a massive contrast to the crowds watching in the Phillipines recently. Have the crowds been this minimal the whole time?

On a side note, Mr Liu must be a great player to have made it this far but man is he ever getting all the rolls.

AnitoKid

It's tied at 7 games a piece!

Am watching the final now, Lining vs Zhang, who I believe is Taiwanese (Chang?). Both are obviously great players, but watching Linings soft break is boooooooooooooooring.

Promoters / TD's who use the magic rack needs to understand that you cannot rack the 1 on the spot, rack high with 9 on the spot to force some break action! They are killing the game, I even see some spectators sleeping (not uncommon in pool for some reason):D

09-26-2010, 01:40 AM

5-4 now. I like Antonio's game. He's a very smart player, uses minimum movement on the cue ball, ala Lassiter.

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 01:54 AM
5-5 now. Antonio missed a long two ball. This guy Zhang is another great player from China, appears to be fairly young.

Ratta
09-26-2010, 01:57 AM
Yes, agree about Zhang. Has a good game. Think *they* have dozens of them hiding behind the wall waiting to come out^^

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:00 AM
6-5 Zhang, he made a great safety on the two. Nikoy almost escaped with a super thin cut shot that hung up in the corner. The pockets look fairly tight, maybe 4.5" or slightly less. A bad shot will rattle.

pooladdict
09-26-2010, 02:01 AM
Before the match started, it said Lining PHI vs Zhang TPE. So I think the guy is Taiwanese, not Chinese (although the Chinese would say thats the same..)

I believe Zhang is the Chinese way of writing Chang - the Taiwanese version

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:03 AM
7-5 Zhang. He made an amazing cut shot up in the corner on the four ball. He had to jack up and bridge over the five to shoot it. This guy can play!

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:11 AM
8-5 Zhang! A very difficult rack (break and run) made to look easy with some perfect cue ball control. IMPRESSIVE!!
He's got his foot on the gas now.

atthecat
09-26-2010, 02:12 AM
I like his break too. He hits them hard but controlled.

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:17 AM
8-6, Antonio fights back! He has to make a tough five and seven ball, after sitting in his chair for quite a while. He needed that rack bad.

atthecat
09-26-2010, 02:19 AM
A. missed that easy 1 ball. oof. Not crazy about the soft break.

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:23 AM
9-6 Zhang. Antonio missed a cut shot on the one. Zhang made a beautiful off angle combination on the 2-8. The top Chinese/Taiwanese players all have excellent focus and concentration, ala Ralf Souquet. 100% at all times!

atthecat
09-26-2010, 02:27 AM
Zhang strong! On the hill.

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:27 AM
10-6 Zhang. This guy isn't giving up air! He smiles for the first time at his adoring fans. Even the Chinese commentators sound happy.

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:32 AM
10-7. Zhang is running out for the match and gets tough on the seven. He hangs it up and both commentators groan loudly! Funny!!!

atthecat
09-26-2010, 02:35 AM
I think that if Antonio didn't use the soft break it would be hill hill now.

jay helfert
09-26-2010, 02:38 AM
Nikoy falls short for position on the two. It was a very small window he was trying for. Plays safe but Zhang makes another excellent long cut up table on the two. He runs out for the match! 11-7.

Good camera work by the Chinese crew. They understand the simplicity of pool, 75% of the shooting can be shown on one end zone camera (mounted at about a 30% angle). But when there was a tight angle or close fit on the object ball, they were right there to show it. Same with clusters and combos. Good job!

Wu is still the better player in my book. He plays the most effortless pool since Keith McCready, and is the Zen Master of the game. He swishes hard shots like they are hangers. Love his game! He would have never missed that seven ball that Zhang missed for the match. JMHO as always. Meanwhile Zhang is a great player, no doubt. He pretty much kept Lining confined to his chair for the last half of the match.

Jay, since you mentioned Wu, do you have any info on Wu's status. The last thing I heard about Wu was that he would not move to Singapore anymore. Not sure if he still suffered the 2 years banning from the game. He has just been completely disappeared from the international screen ever since.

The word I got on this last trip is that Wu will be back playing in 2011. For Taiwan again.

Did not know which Zhang you guys were talking about till now, he is Zhang Yu Long, he lost to Corteze in an event few months back i think it was a final 4 match up. He play perfect pool and still lose. If i remember correctly, he was ranked about no. 9 in Taiwan then.
