Well Christmas is around the corner and so here is a little contest for a set of the Legends Instructional series featuring Buddy hall and Nick Varner.

A little info on the set, each DVD is over 2hrs long and there are 4 DVDs to the set. 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 14.1 and One Pocket. Each DVD has a "tricks of the trade" section that shows some specialty shots. Also Nick and Buddy playing short sets against each other while talking through each shot. Some of the Legends favorite practice drills. In the 14.1 DVD Nick runs over 100 while talking through each shot and why the whole way through.

After shooting these DVDs both Nick and Buddy came away saying that they had picked something up and learned some things, so to me if these two Hall of Famers can learn something then I am sure there is omething to be learned for the rest of us. The set has a retail value of $100.00 and can be purchased as a set or individually for $29.99 at www.nickvarner.com or by calling direct
Tel: (270) 926-4248.

So here is the question, What city did Nick Varner win his last WPA World 9-Ball Championship? I will let this thread go for a while before shutting it down and drawing a winner from the correct answers. Good luck.,

Alicante, Spain vs. Jeremy Jones.

December 5th-12th, 1999.

The tournament was broadcasted on ESPN, which made it the first professional 9-ball championship to be aired on television.

I sadly don't know the score right now.

I think the chewing could be used at weight. "Ok Nick, I want the breaks and the last 3 and Oh you can't chew any gum" That might shark him :)

I was going to guess "Joe's Garage" in 2011 but I guess I'll stick with "Alicante, Spain".

I have a question for you. :D

What is Nick's middle name? Guess correctly and I'll spot you 25 points in a frame of snooker. :)

Justin, Since AZB was down for a big part of the day today I am going to wait. Probably with the holiday and everything I might do it on Sunday. Is that going to be ok with you?? :)

OK here is my answer: 1999 Alicante, Spain as was said in other posts it was his second world title that year. That year he also won player of the year on Steve Mizerak's Senior Tour. Extra credit- in 2000, Nick added his 8th World Title by winning the World Title in One Pocket in Portland, Maine. Nick is the only player of all time to win World Championships in 5 different games.

Thanks for the contest.

I agree!

I also won a set in last year's contest. Mark never asked me to post a review, nor was it a requirement if you were one of the winners. But this set was good enough that I felt compelled to give it a plug.

Instead of rewriting the review, here's a link with information on its contents.
