IIRC, it wasn't a full field, maybe 50-55 players. That was the year that Jaime Goodwin shit out and won, lol! Jaime played good but was not supposed to win..... It was kind of funny watching one pocket specialist after one pocket specialist get beat by Jaime shooting the "wrong" shots!

Similar to Jamie Gold winning the WSOP<<<just a freak deal. After that he actually thought he was a great poker player and tried to gamble with top players!! He in turn got eatin alive!! a:grin-square:

I appreciate the replys. I am familiar with Jayme Goodwynn. I recently recieved a call from a friend of mine in Battle Creek, where Jayme lives. He had a friend there who was under the impression that Battle Creek had a world champion pool player. I stated that the only tourneyment winner of note that I was aware of was Jayme Goodwynn. But that he had won a U.S. Open One Pocket title, with a moderate field, not a world championship. I further stated that he was known as a good solid player, but was primarily known as a One Pocket player. I believe my assesment was accurate. Thank you for the imput. Have a wonderful day!

Good luck & good Pool! ,

I believe a little-known Gerry slivka ate some heads there that year too.

And speaking of guys who aren't supposed to win 1p tourneys, mike Davis did the same at the Carolina's open one year (06? 07?). He told me he ran so many 8s he had a dream he was an octopus.

I made up the last sentence, but iron mike did say he ran a lotta damn balls.

Norm Wines is from Battle Creek too. He's won more tourneys than Jaime but never a world championship. Norm is better known than Jaime though, IMO....

Slivka finished 3rd or 4th iirc. Bartram was 19 or so at the time and finished 5-6th.
