I saw a seller in a recent for sale listing state that Joel isn't building any more full splice cues.

Is this a recent development, and if it is, what direction is he headed in?

I find it a bit surprising as full splice construction has always been a signature component of his cues.

I am kinda surprised but understand the full-splice can be a royal pain to make and get it out of the shop.
It is the nature of the beast.
Cored short-splice can be made a lot faster and will be more stable .

Can anyone point to a link that explains clearly, preferably with illustrations, exactly what the difference is between a full splice cue and one that isn't?

I've looked but still can't seem to get an understanding that I can grasp.

There are several in the cue makers forum.

One in particular was great.

But try this, a couple of threads with pictures:
