This is the latest players' list, as of this morning, as I am typing.
Naturally, subject to last minutes changes, as we approach the blind draw.
After the blind draw, I will try to repost the final list tonight.
We start tomorrow.
First match is 10:30am.
We will also have the One-Pocket 8-Man Invitational.
I will post those players as well, hopefully later today.
Thanks for your support.

Tournament Director

3 more new entries so now 138
136 Nilbert Lim Philippines
137 Zion Zvi Israel
138 Josh Roberts USA

I see very few notable absentees-
Nikos
Efren
Buste
Jeff Ignacio
Sniego
Szew
Stepanov
Waleed Majid

Probably only one of the absentees with real chance of winning is former US Open semifinalist Nikos :)

The contrarian in me says Tony for the upset, but Wu should win this one easily.

Everyone on this list is super lucky that Siming Chen hasn't entered.

Pulling for Thorpe and SVB. Would love to see Morra do well too.

Wu's bracket looks fairly soft.

Biado
Babica
Immonen

Those are the names that pose the biggest threat

Edit: When I say "soft" I'm not trying to imply those or any other players in his bracket aren't good. I just think he's much much much better.

No major upsets so far.
Not a good day for Mosconi Cuppers as 4 sent to 1 loss. 3 from US and 1 from Euro. Nightcap for the day is a juicy Dutch Treat SVB v NVB.
Elsewhere, lone female Karen Corr gets her first win, former winner Kevin Chang goes down to Alcaide.

The opponent isn't listed yet for the B-side match, but Oscar is at the top part, and Ernesto is at the bottom part.

Oscar lost to a K.L HSU(taiwan) and Ernesto lost to Kaci Klenti.

Shocking! Top 2 favorites SVB and Wu sent to 1 loss after just 1.5 days of play.
Both lost in Round 2 so how many consecutive matches do they have to win to win title? 13 or 14 matches? SVB lost in Round 4 last year and had to win 10 consecutive to win title. When was last time someone lost in Round 1 or 2 and went on to win? Mika about 10 years ago?

Isn't it unsportive to forfeit because you play your son/friend etc. that has more possibilities to win?

I understand why, but they are adults playing in possibly the biggest field ever. Respect the game.

Where in the world is Mike Dechaine?
Inquiring minds want to know.

He was in the commentary box at the Gotham City event a little over a week ago. He said he wasn't going to the Open (even if he won at Gotham, which he did) basically because of the cost-benefit situation for such a lengthy event.

[It was said that he sells windows now; maybe he just had to work.]
