Mike Sigel's 150-out against Zuglan
Schmidt's 245

Any other really good exhibitions of 14.1 out there? I'm looking to buy some matches and I'm looking for advice. I think I recall a decent match between Sigel and Varner (150-67 or something like that). Does anyone know of great 14.1 w/ Hopkins, Mizerak, etc?

Hi, here is a copy of a post I made just as an FYI. I've still been too lazy to post them on ebay. I enjoyed all of them.

I have 6 accu-stat VHS tapes of straight pool that I have viewed already and I'm going to be posting them on ebay ( if I ever get the ambition) If you are interested in them I'll sell them for 65 bucks shipping included, if you are in the usa.

That will give me a few bucks to buy more from accu-stats

PM me and I'll give you my phone # if you are interested in saving a few bucks.

they are

Mizerak vs Butera
Zuglan vs Ray Martin
Zuglan vs Mike Segel
Zuglan vs Cicero Murphy
Zuglan vs Grady Mathews
Grady Mathews vs Pat Flemming < one of my favorites BTW- Player review Tapes

Ouch, you guys forgot the ultimate tape - "Clash of the Titans".

Irving Crane and Joe Balsis on television in the mid-60's. Crane runs 150 and out. Masterful.

Can you buy that anywhere???? That sounds REALLY exciting. I've never seen Crane play.

finals 2006 world straight pool championship, hohmann vs engert, toasty gets out in 3 innings.

also, it's not a great video in the sense of high runs but it's entertaining to watch sigel vs schmidt at the 2000 u.s. open. This is the famous one where sigel gets pissed and snaps his stick, but it's entertaining because schmidt wasn't at the same level then as he is now, and has to make a lot of crazy difficult cuts and 3 rail shapes to keep his runs going. So it's kind of fun to see straight pool played out of the textbook.

To get the complete picture you should also see sigel vs varner (the next day?) where sigel is out in 2 innings and varner has a nice 60+ run too. There's a long interview at the end.

On the subject of entertaining games that don't have blistering high runs, ervolino vs strickland at the 1995 maine event is kinda fun to watch. The commentators argue endlessly about whether youth (raw pocketing ability) beats experience. Ervolino puts together a nice 80 ball run and it looks like experience is the winner, but then earl fires back with a decent 60 or so. There are plenty of innings but it's still got some good straight pool with lots of commentary on what NOT to do and a funny moment when earl accuses the ref of moving the cueball to leave him less angle on a break ball.

Wanna see a nice 150ish ball run from a dude you never heard of (probably)? I have a video of Hsia Hui-Kai from Taipei where he's just practicing in front of friends at some amusement center with pop music in the background (it's with real equipment, 9 ft table). His playing style is quite nice, he hits 'em pretty firm but doesn't move the cueball much. PM and I can send it.

Plain old awesome playing from a champion: Grady Mathews vs. Dallas west at the 1995 Maine event, grady wins in 2 innings by running 102 and out.

JLW,
Yes, in my opinion the Pope is Catholic, water is wet, snow is cold, and that was a GREAT runout. I guess I could have added "breakup is a demented, psychopathic loser", but probably everyone gets the point anyway.
