That is without a doubt the best billiard video I have ever seen, that slipery new cloth makes some great shots possible, his speed control when all the wine glasses were on the table and he hit a 4? rail shot was awesome, just bumped the 2 balls. the music, lighting, replay etc. was all top notch too. WOW what a video. these guys are getting better and better. I love watching billiards, or playing it with a coach-I cant see the shots.

I knew before I clicked on your link who it was going to be. The guy is just unbelievable. Truly difficult to believe it. A friend turned me on to him in 99 and I bought a tape of his which I've watched it mesmerized more than once. Thanks for posting it and reminding me. If you ever wonder if pool is an art just watch Sayginer.

Big deal. I totally did that shot in my basement last night.

Sayginer is a top-level 3c pro- at least he was in years past. I'd imagine his thirst for tourney victories has been considerably quenched as a result of his rock-star status...exhibition$, $pecial engagement$, invitational$.

He is one bad dude and a welcome contrast to the technicians he plays against.

I actually sent a very long email to IMAX re: those hi-speed/ heat reading billiards films and the topics of Sayginer/ Ceulemans. It would be a damn fine IMAX, and they doodoo technical films, you know.

Thanks for sharing Ron, that was awesome.

My wife actually heard the music playing and came in the computer room around the 1 minute mark....she watched the whole video with me and she was AMAZED, and so was I that she watched it:eek:

When he had the wine glasses set up and they had the overhead view showing, I actually thought that the glasses were digitally enhanced. Then they showed the shot from the side angle and I actually laughed out loud in amazement.:D

The best shot to me was when he had the people spread the balls all over the table, and I mean ALL OVER THE TABLE, he studied the layout, found a path:rolleyes: and maneuvered the cueball(somehow) through the maze of balls to get his "point". INCREDIBLE!

Thanks again Ron!

Semih is definitely my fave 3-cush player, without a doubt. His exhibitions are unreal. NOT knocking the guy, but I was told he sprays the table with silicone (or something like that) prior to his exhibitions to help the CB twist hard. Not like it matters, I could spray a table with magic fairy pixie luck-dust and I wouldn't be able to pull off one of his shots.

As has already been said, watching Semih's 'mad skills', it's hard to make yourself believe what you are seeing - that he can make the cueball do all of that.

Chris's billiards had a world class 3c tournament about 12 years ago, with Semih, Sang Lee, Ceuleman, Jaspers, Blomdahl and all the other champions entered.....After the tournament was over, Semih put on an exhibition, just like you see in his tapes. I'm thankful that I got to see him do it all in person, from just 3 feet away.

Sayginer is an amazing showman. He is also a soap opera star on Turkish TV and was on ESPN recently in the "3-C Grand Master" shows which was a fancy shot competition against Mike Massey and Eric Yow. I think that between the TV stuff and a lot of exhibitions, his world ranking has fallen off, but he still produces some amazing games. He had a 14-inning game to 50 points in one of the Sang Lee tournaments, and was known as Mr. 3.57 for a while.

He sometimes does impersonations of the other players as part of his exhibitions, and he is very good at getting all their little mannerisms down.

I love it when sportsmen do this....

I've seen quarterbacks do dead on impressions of other quarterbacks (usually the greats - Montana, Elway, Marino, Favre, etc.), and it is always hilarious. It's also a HUGE compliment, that he studied everything the other guys did so thoroughly (looking for what he might be able to use to become better). I can't think of the last guy I saw do it (it was some quarterback skills competition), but it was a riot. I've also seen numerous guys do dead on swing impressions (along with mannerisms, and pre-shot routines, etc.) of golfers, and that's just as cool. I can do Arnie and Trevino, but I slice with Arnies swing, and hook with Lee's. LOL

Wow, I had no idea he was an actor as well.

Bob, how close to the absolute top of the tournament 3C world is or was Semih (regular 3C, not trick shots)? I get the impression that he's easily top 10, is that accurate? It seems like the analogy to the pool world would be if someone on the level of a Johnny Archer or an Alex Pagulayan were, in addition to being the tournament players they are, far-and-away the best trick shot artist on a pool table. Pretty unbelievable.

Sayginer is currently 11th in the UMB rankings. A year ago he was 7th. His other commitments have caused him to miss several ranking events. A few years ago I believe he was in the top five.

I can guarantee that you don't. All you know is what your little 'click' says, and I don't hang around them either. For some reason, even though I've never done anything to any of you, you, Curlycues, and Bigdaddygerald seem to like to see who can belittle me the most. To be honest Steve, it really doesn't matter to me, it just shows your character. Have fun.

I will admit to alot of the folks on this forum it may seem like neil takes alot of stuff from a few people on here. Thing is the people giving him the business are people that know him day to day.

People who have been playing in a tournament with him when he goes into melt down and screws the brackets all up by walking out after he gets beat buy someone thats not supposed to beat him. He got pissed in one , (i think it was the last one he was allowed to play in ) because he drew the same guy 3 weeks in a row in the first round.

Just packed up his chit and ran home. So I ask once again why does someone that can play that good gotta act like a kid when things dont go his way?

You just walk in the sands any day at any time and ask who never missed a ball that was his fault, answer will always be neil. No click needed .

P.s cant wait till your better for that 6 ball on a barbox. Can I get the breaks too. Maybe if you make the game hard enough on yourself you might catch a gear and play to your potential? Probably not , me thinks youll just get busted.

I don't know why I am even bothering to respond to you, but I will.

First off, you try to make it sound like you have known me for years on a day to day basis. You must be dreaming about me or something. Which I find very weird and rather disturbing. Because I have hardly ever talked to you. Steve even less, and Curly maybe 2 times in 20 years.

Nice that you accuse me of screwing the brackets all up in a tournament. ( a huge $5 tourn. with all of 10 people in it) Why don't you tell what really happened? That I had been voluntarily spotting people in it. The only reason I was doing that was to make it tough on me. To 'up' my game. Which it did. I was still winning it most of the time. Then for about 5 weeks in a row, I had my 1st match against Steve's (not SDE) buddy. Who happened to be the 2nd best player in it. Now, with random draw, this seems rather odd.

When I approached Steve about it, he started getting all mouthy with me. Which I gave right back to him. I then flat out told everyone ther that he was rigging the brackets. Which ticked off a lot of the lesser players. They have since told me that they were in it to play the better players, and they weren't getting the chance to do so.

Steve got P.O. that he got 'busted' and banned me. Big deal. Then Houston started winning it every week and from what he has said, he would split it with Steve.

As far as the brackets go, Whoever would of had to play me got a buy. So what.

As far as the Sands. Yes. I always have complained about their tables. They suck. Curly wouldn't even hold the George Ellis Memorial Tournament last year because he was too embarrased to have out-of-towners see how bad the equipment is there.

If nobody ever says anything about it, they will never get fixed. For some reason, I was the only one willing to take up the fight. I got tired of paying top dollar to play on crap. Which is why for the past year I seldom go there. And why Jason and Bart are very, very rarely there. It is why there are no players left there except for the ones that only know that place and don't know any better.

As far as me being a crier, yeah, I was in the past. I hate getting beat by the table. I have posted on here, which you know about, how and why that has changed. But if all you can do is bring up the past, have fun. Why not also mention the others there? Like the guy who has broken probably at least 50 house cues in half? Or you and your friends that always want to start some action, but won't get up and play a fair game?

By the way, I never said I'd give you the 6 again. I said 'even'. You want 'locks' one way? Well I guess I will just take 'locks' the other way and see how you like it.

In ending, if you want to keep dragging this up, well, go right ahead. But I won't be responding to it anymore. You have hijacked this thread enough.

One last thing- I have NEVER gotten pissed by getting beat by a lesser player. Actually, most times it makes me feel kinda good inside. Because a lot of times it makes the other persons day to beat a better player. It gives them that little bit of confidence that things are starting to pay off for them, and sometimes it stays with them and their whole game comes up overall. I HAVE gotten P.O.'d that I lost. Who hasn't? But NOT because it was to a lesser player.

Maybe you need to go back and re-read the post you are talking about. Obviously you didn't get my point. Which was, if I can make some great shots, surely the pros can do them much more regularly. That being the case, with videos like this out there now, maybe, just maybe, some of the pros will start reaching into the impossible shot range. And if they do, maybe the game will evolve into much more than it is today.

Much like it changed dramatically when Efren came over and introduced kicking to the Americans.

I started playing 3 cushion a couple of years ago and I actually like it more than pool. The balls are bigger and heavier so some of the really crazy stuff cant cross over to the pool table but as far as basic understanding of diamond position play you can play pool for years and never grasp some shots that are meat and potatoes stuff in 3 cushion.

The thing about semih that sets him apart is even in tourney play he will shoot some of those crazy shots for the sake of the fans.

DCC is going to be cool cause of the billiard tournament going on at the same time across the street, best of both worlds if you know what i mean.

I saw an exhibition tape of his from a few years ago-- I believe at one of Sang Lee's tournaments. On some of the totally outrageous shots, he used hair spray or some other element on the cueball. However, he made some very amazing shots with a natural CB. I don't know if he used the spray on the posted Youtube video or not. My guess is that he may have. Regardless-- he's still incredibly talented.

Reading this thread is like being in the Marx brother movie. Whose the nut job who thinks he's so special and cute while the rest of the movie is going on? Any moment I expect Chico to come in with a song or Harpo to start honking his horn.
Semih is in a class by himself having won many 3 cushion titles. Having beaten Blohmdahl, Jaspers, Ceulemans, Lee, etc. He is also a great teacher and mentor of many Turkish players. One of the worlds great ambassadors of the game.
Why are you comparing yourself to him? Why are you talking about you and your local league and how you are so misunderstood by those in it? Not too many can say they are in the same league with Semih. Trying to covet this thread with your self importance is like I said as funny as a Marx brothers movie.

Maybe I'm wording it wrong. I'm NOT comparing myself to him at all. I'm trying to say that I, at my low level have made great shots to save a game, but you never see the pros try them. (except Efren on occasion). With that in mind- that they are possible, and with Sayinger now having these videos out for all to see, maybe, and hopefully, some of the pros will pick up on it and start practicing some of the masse shots to use in their 9 ball games.

Right now they say that they are too low a percentage. Just like they used to say about kicks before Efren showed them differently. It would really enhance the game if they started using some of the shots that they currently call off-limits.

There's a reason they're called trick shots.

True, some of them are 'rigged' for better performance. But there is still a whole realm of masse shots available that the pros never use because they never practice them.

Eric Yow posts on here. I would love to hear his opinion on the practicality of using masses in 9 ball. I just don't understand why the pros give up ball in hand on a 4 or 5 rail kick attempt, when they could have gotten a hit with a masse shot. They don't even seem to think of it.

Stop the 'poor me, but secretly I can hang with the pros and make these incredible shots' attitude. Yoy see, I'm not the only one who called you out. Next time you log in, leave your ego at the door.

Almost (that being the operative word) as impressive as his skill is the sheer imagination it takes to come up with some of those shots.

Nice avatar...I hate seeing all these 17 year old punk kids wearing his shirts and not knowing who he was, "a hero who stood up for the masses" when in reality he was just a cold blooded murderer

Now why are you bringing this "murderer" thing up in a Semih post. Creat your own post if you want to talk politics. I wont go into a discussion about Che here but you are doing the same idiotic thing as Neil.
Neil who are you to talk about what the pros have done and not done. Have you ever seen Rafael Martinez use Masse shots and Masse jump shots in one pocket? Have you ever seen Shane Van B take a circuitous route to get better shape instead of cinching the ball and taking the long shot? Have you ever seen Ronnie Allen when he was young kicking and banking 2 to 3 balls at once in an aggressive move towards his hole.
I dont understand how you can say what you say unless you are really living under some rock and sheltered from the world out there. Check out Chohan when he runs eight and out with every trick in the book or a Neil Feijin run rack after rack of nine ball using the jump stick like a magic wand.
You sound too caught up in your own game and the people around you. Your view is really limited and your response is such that we suspect you as someone who is small in scope and experience or sees the world emanating from you instead of to you.
Every pro Ive seen in action has used some device or other to get out. Are you stupid or just have some neurological insufficiecy like mental retardation. I ask this cause if you consider yourself to be a good pool player which I assume you are you would notice these things. Every Filipino action player Ive see, and Ive seen all of them in action, uses the masse or the jump or the kick or extreme english or something to me would be indescribable as to get their rock to where they want it. Have you seen Bugs, Cecil, Cannonball, Trueman, play? Man they can bank a bank that will make you crazy.
Think before you talk man. Get out of your little world getting the 8 ball from someone no ones heard of and read a book. Watch some videos. Take a look at some Accustats or TAR or Billiard Network stuff. Pros have been doing what you have newly discovered. Jeez!!

i normally dont care for trick shot videos but that was great. does he play 3 cushion competitions to?

Wasn't this the guy who put Mike Massey and Tom Rossman to shame in a trick shot exhibition on TV not too long ago?

Bob Jewett was a judge on TV during the match.

I think JimS said it best. "Mesmerizing."

I had the pleasure of watching him on ESPN earlier this year in an artistic pool event hosted by Mike Massey. A panel of judges including Jeanette Lee awarded Semih a points victory over Mike Massey [who did quite well], and Semih was a gracious winner praising Mike immensely.

Semih is a real class guy and one funny dude. A true ambassador for the sport.

I do have to take issue with one thing in the video. He's got two gorgeous Turkish women lying horizontal and all he can think of doing is stroking balls?!

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz... :D

Actually, it was Mike Massey and Eric Yow. ESPN has re-shown the Massey segment once or twice. Both Mike and Eric were both hampered by limited experience on carom tables. I think Mike has been practicing since the event.

I watched it..I loved Eric Yow's comment to Jeanette Lee: "You look lovely tonight, Jeanette." He spoke the truth. :D

Check out this stroke, the cue ball control on command! Cueball goes in circles! It defies the rails and table. Two amazing videos links below, and there is a "USA Tribute video" on the 2nd link I just added so you can view it.

Neil...Thanks for reviving this thread...I just watched the video with my 8-year-old. I had to explain what Billiards was...but he thought it was really cool (as did I)!

Jason

p.s. He refused to lay up on the pool table and let me try a couple of those shots with him up there! (I guess he's seen me shoot! :o )
