cheap, negitive, feel sorry for themself, act like a victem, people. Pool players are just way to negitative and that attitude is why they are miserable, I try and keep it positive, and sure I hate to lose, but man some of these guys you cant say "hi how are you" to with out getting a story, they love to see others fail, they want to take them down to their level, thats what i dont like about pool,

in body building everyone for the most part is positive and they are big on personal growth, in contrast for the most part pool players try and get over on their peers and are cheep, complaining about a piece of chalk for $3.50, or $60/night for a motel room, now I know all to well whats its like to be broke I was for 75% of my life and even then I never was like that being petty, Kim Davenport told me a month ago this " I aint ever been rich but lived like a millionaire almost my whole life" thats the attitude I like.

^^^^the above is from another thread, Sure its easy for anyone to say "yeah Fatboy you got it all so why would you complain" and they are right why would I now? But what some people may fail to realize that the years i didnt have any $$$ I still never complained, wasnt negitative about life, etc. When I saw Tooth in 85 or 86 in Reno he busted out $30,000(i had less than 200 in my pocket) while was talking to Cardone while Seigal was playing someone in the finals I never saw that much $$$ in my life and instead of being jealous I was so fired up to do what ever I had to do to be in his spot. Greatness inspires me, playing champions is an honor, being around people in all walks of life who are better, smarter, than me in anything gets me fired up-it dosent create resentment, unless its anyone who can spell better than me, I dont like those people;) :p

I dedicated my life to pool, didnt have a girl friend by choice and had a hell of a great time. Then one day I walked into the pool room 10 years later and saw it in a different way and thought to myself I have to go do something with my life, I'm not gonna be a champion, didnt have the bankroll to put myself in big action, sure I had been staked alot of times but I wasnt getting what I wanted out of life. So I asked myself what the hell am I doing here? I didnt have a bad attitude or a good answere so I retired from the "Pool Scene" But kept playing at home most of the time because I love pool, I didnt miss the action becasue building a business with the $$$ I got when I sold my house was enough action or money in the fire for me.

So now I'm back, my business is getting hammered with the economy, i'm making about 40% less than I was 3-4 years ago, I dont like it, I might not survive the recession, who knows. But you wont hear me complain, and if Tooth wins the lottery a few times and can high roll me I wont resent him or say anything bad...goo for him. It takes alot of heart to be positive, respectful of those who are ahead of you. I have crippling pain I cant play today and that sucks but why get mad, just sit and make long posts on AZ, in between phone calls-work calls I have been very busy today.

i just wanted to share my thoughts about pool and what I dont like, I know some people hate me and I respect their choice, others think i'm a joke, thats cool too. When I came back to pool I didnt have a plan, I'm starting to get one, play pool, no matter what game you like have fun, bet your rent $$$ waht ever it is you like. I'm here to promote happiness, i'm not so egotistical to think I can have much influence on pool, but when I jokeling said "I'm the new Sheriff" It did show me one thing Fatboy talks people listen, so listen up, go play pool, support pool, teach lesser players, support the BCA instructors, try and get other people involved in pool. And say what you like about Fatboy.....I can pitch and catch too.

My experience has been that some have a positive attitude and some don't. Stick with those who BELIEVE in life and are willing to change themselves to improve any part of their life they are not happy with. Stay away from those who just bitvh and moan and blame others for their position in life.

In AA they call that sticking with the winners. A winner is someone who is alive and happy about it. Simple philosophy that works for me.

in body building everyone for the most part is positive and they are big on personal growth,
You kidding?
All the pros do is complain about the judging when they lose.
And/or the lack of money in the sport.
They used to compare backup quarterback Steve Reich's pay to Haney and company.
And when Labrada, Gaspari, Ray and company lost, they'd whine.

i'm good friends with Jay Cutler(we have been friends since he moved to Vegas) and know the Professional end of that business real well, and your correct, The pro's in BBing have it real tough very similar to pro pool players Jay makes more than the top 10 players combined(I know exactly what jay makes its 7 figures) this is a quick guess. I sit in the front row at the Olympia with Ben & Eric Weider when I go to it, and its a rackett, they make sure who wins is the most profitable/marketable BBer. There is nothing fair about it.

Even the mid level BBers ***** and moan as well like at a regonal pool tournment. Things change when you cross over the line from entertainment to a livelyhood, hookers dont like sex sometimes, so there it is there. your right. Some people are never happy.

I was refering to the atmosphere in the gym and the overall mood of the enviorment there compaired to pool at pool room, the hobiests not the competitive players or BB'ers.

What's the difference between a pool player and a puppy?

Eventually, the puppy will quit whining!

I'm one of the better player in the room I hang out in. Because of that, I get approached quite often by newbies to the game or hungry young players wanting to learn something.

Do I take the time to show 'em something? Always.

Do I charge them anything? Nope, not a dime. Never have and never will.(Sorry, Randy, Scott and all the BCA instructors.)

The only payment I receive is when I see that cloud of frustration lift off their face to be replaced by a smile, a laugh or a twinkle in their eye when they finally accomplish what they were having problems with.

That's what makes it all worthwhile to me.

GoDuster is the revolutionary motorized duster that makes dusting faster, easier and more fun than you ever imagined! It's battery operated, just push the button and the duster head starts to spin, picking up dust in a fraction of the time. Designed for comfort, the handle is ergonomic and balanced to make dusting feel almost effortless. Even seniors and children will love it.

The thing I dsilike about pool is that it is difficult to find quality players that play for the enjoyment of pool. The better players all want to play for money and then all the crap begins about the spot and people hustling, playing below there skill to hustle someone. Eventually it becomes another shouting match and all the enjoyment is all gone. I see the hustlers in every pool hall I go to you can spot them in a nano second, they will come up and ask to play for money and then insult your manhood if you don't. Sorry Ass Bastards IMO. I am not a gambler, do not want to gamble and honestly do enjoy watching other people gamble.
Just wish I could find more folks that play for the love of the game and some godd quality time relaxing at the pool hall. Interestingly I find many 3 cushion players that play for the enjoyment of there game and is why I play more 3 cushion these days.
JMO folks,
Dan

I can't say I have never whined or made excuses. It happens. We all enjoy being around happy people because happy people bring a certain comfort to a room. But the truth is we are all human & we all have our moments. To understand the whining in pool, one must understand the circumstances of the situation & also understand group dynamics.

As for myself, I play pool first of all because I love the game. But I also go play because it's a way to get away from my normal world & purge myself of life's daily grind. I only assume everybody else out playing with me are doing the same thing. Whining & *****ing relieves stress, and doing it to other people like me, who understand my views, is kinda like going to a therapist. I'm *****ing about my stance being wrong, or the table lighting being dim, but what i'm really saying is my dog pissed on the carpet or my kid got an F in math or my wife is annoying the crap out of me. I may seem negative & low life but when I get home I feel refreshed & ready to meet life full steam ahead again. My wife & kids don't have see me vent. I have other degenerates to vent on, and i'm there for them to vent on. Pool players don't expect anything from me but a game. In the end very few people are truly unhappy or negative. I like to think of it as group therapy with beer :) The best therapy is when i'm in stroke, and can relieve myself of life's frustrations without ever saying a word.

That's my take on it. I try to see things as if i'm looking through a window. I read people & behaviors. I have met only a few truly unhappy people. Human nature is to be happy, or try to be. If not try, then ***** & moan. It may seem negative, but it comes with the territory of the game. People need more than just the game. Humans are always going to whine about something.

This thread is about people like you.... a person who attempts to bring everybody else down. People who attack without reason. Fatboys thread was intended to promote good energy among pool players. Your contribution is intended to negate that effort. You are the problem in pool and in the world.

FB it doesn't sound like you have a problem with pool, but maybe the people playing the game. Maybe those same folks would be the same crybabys that boohoo on the golf course that the greens are shaved too close, or the rough is too thick!....you know?....I guess in life theres boohooers, and happy go luckys like ME! :D

Just today at the pool room I was practicing in dead punch, and one of the regulars stopped by to annoy....uh, say hi, and he started crying about the tables being dirty....I said yea, they are not perfect, but if it bothered me that much I would go over, get the vacuum and clean the thing up!....I said, "We get to play on triple shimmed GCIII's in this room!...how many other places do they have tables like that?!" he said yea, I guess your right and went on his way.

On a happy note, my wife demanded I play at the Expo this year after racking 10ball for me for about 2 hours. She NEVER racks for me, but said she could tell I was in dead stroke and wanted me to keep playing without interuption.

How cool is it to have a wife that will rack for you, and know what dead stroke is when she sees it! :D

sure i get frustraietd somedays when I play bad, we all do. that isnt what i was talking about. I was talking about the overall attituted of people, If people would spend more time bringing their friends into the game, teaching eash other things, stop the jealousy-I cant beat hardly any of my pool friends aand I WISH i PLAYED BETTER but I dont but I dont get mad at them or say negitive things like in a couple posts above, you dont see that in the gym, you see the above BBers help the new people and give them support, when I buy a new car and show up with it at the gym there is no haters or jealousy like in the above posts, they are happy for me , like I am when they get a car or house or baby, but in pool if I made a post that I jut bought a (something) there would be more resentment, jealousy etc. that the gym that was my point. i will nover lower myself to that level.

I get knocked for suggesting that we all be positive, dosent matter if I said it or anyone for that matter who said it so why should anyone get knocked being positive? or make negitative statments about someone who is just trying to point out some things we can all do to change the atmosphere in the pool room. but nope i get knocked and that knock just validates my point I appericate the evidence you just provided me Tsyzu, without people like you I wouldnt have said what I said, so again thank you for your help here, for a minute I thought I was wrong.

Also mr Tsyzu if you think you havea read on me or what I have etc. you have litle or no idea, infact only about 4 or 5 people here know a bit about me, if you think the Bucktooth move was for attention or I wanted to flash what I have you would realize just how little you know about me, nobody here has a good read on me. And they never will. So think it over a little, PM me sometime like I said to you a month ago I like you and rspect the fact you have a problem, if you want to get to know me better so you an make some well informed posts to knock me PM me please, i'll be glad to help you. I hate to see people make a bad read on me unless i'm playing poker.

Fatboy, You seem like a decent guy. But don't you have it backwards.
When I was approached by an opposing player to do business, my standard
answer was; I DON'T pitch and I DON'T catch. Meaning I would not dump
my people nor would I take it off if you wanted to dump yours.
I'm no saint, but this is how I've operated all my life, and I sleep well.
