Good lord that girl has a nice body. Is she a model? Give her a pool cue and she can get sponsored by Poison cues, too, maybe. :p

I used to have a John Coltrane avatar but switched it Lauryn Hill. Before she went crazy like all female singers apparently do, she was the greatest combo of talent and beauty I know of. Her album is still an absolute classic.

mine is from an MS Paint picture I did during the Johnny/Earl IPT match. I stated that Sigel and Grady looked a lot like the two old men in the balcony from the muppet show during their commentary. Chad from TAR challenged me to make an MS Paint of it.

I Sit by John McCain at the Phoenix Suns games. Whether you like him or hate him he could be the next President and I have never known a President before. I need to get a better picture though. The chances are I will not be able to anymore. I think we will have to get a security clearance just to sit in my seats anymore.

It's exactly the same as the old avatar I was using -

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u151/Dsapolis/AV2007.jpg

All I did was go into MSPAINT and invert the colors to make this one "dark" - which symbolizes my switch to the "dark side".

By that I mean that I have this avatar in protest of the sad state of pool and the poisonous individuals that have corrupted our game. I will leave this avatar up until those individuals either

a) Leave on their own
b) pull their heads out of their asses
c) get driven out of the game by people such as myself that are not afraid to confront them and show them the door - :)

In the past I have been nice about it, but now I choose not to be quiet or polite to these corruptive, poisonous people that seem to stagnate and prevent our game from prospering outside our own little " pool world bubble".

That is the story behind my avatar.

Stay tuned. I fully intend on BURSTING that bubble.

At this time, those people know who they are. I don't need to mention names on this forum. A lot of these corruptive and poisonous people expose themselves. Nothing more needs to be said. Pool needs a change in a positive direction by folks that care about it from the heart - not greedy folks that care about it from their wallet.

Pool needs to quit existing inside their "little bubble", and IMO, these corruptive people are comfortable ruling from within "the bubble".

I plan on personally bursting their bubble and leaving them behind in the process.

I still read the forums, and will post occasionally when I see a subject I want to respond to. Anyway, I had a lot of people tell me I shouldn't leave because a few want to flame me, and I realised they were right.

I wanted to respond to this thread because I think my avatar is pretty darn funny, even though I can't see it because I had to turn avatars off. However, I can still see images within the post.

Not that any of that matters because it's against forum rules anyway.

He kept a dead ***** in his cave.

Look at the money he saved.

My avatar is an image I shot myself a few years back. Not a great image as such things go but it does remind me of myself on New Years morning back in my drinking days. I use the large picture for my New Years greeting a handful of places and just never took it down from here since it makes it very easy to find my own posts scrolling through to see if there have been any direct replies.

Maybe I'll post a scantily clad lady one day just to join the crowd but I'll have to grab my camera and go take the picture myself instead of finding a copy. I'm a hands on kind of guy.

This is the oldest pool ball I've ever seen, or owned in this case. It is a clay ball circa early 1900's, pre Greenleaf era. This type of ball was used until the 20's and early 30's, as far as I can tell from the feedback I've gotten.

I put it on eBay a month ago just to see what would happen. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was very active bidding on it. Some people recognized it and knew how old it was. Final sale price was $147.50 for one pool ball.

Mine is the Linux penguin. I've been a Linux user for about 12 years now, but I have no idea why I actually chose that, other than I kind of liked the image.

I originally had myself in my avatar and thought it was a little corny. Like, "Hey! Look at ME!", so I chose something else.

Jay, I thought thats what that was. I remember you missing that exact
ball for the cash once. Is that why you saved it?

Our very own Smorgass Bored gave me the moniker "Short Bus Russ" after I woofed at a much better player, saying he should be "better than a shortstop if he wants to woof at me!".

Everyone thought it hilarious, and many people had (and have) the line in their sig to commemorate the ridiculousness of the woofing...

I commissioned our own AZE to create a logo for me, as I decided I really liked the nickname "Short Bus Russ". It's Rat Fink, drawn by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, of hot-rod fame. Of course, Rat Fink has been grafted onto a short bus.. :D :D :D

I then got Jack Justis to transfer the design to the custom case he was working on for me. A few AZ'ers saw it at DCC, and really liked it.

my current one is a screen shot i thought was funny from family guy when lois walked in on the cookie monster freebasing cookie dough in the womens bath room. my old one pictured below is a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy referance which is only the best book series ever!

http://www.clanforsaken.net/pics/dont_pan.gif

"It is also the story of a book, a book called The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy — not an Earth book, never published on Earth, and until the terrible catastrophe occurred, never seen or heard of by any Earthman.

Nevertheless, a wholly remarkable book.

in fact it was probably the most remarkable book ever to come out of the great publishing houses of Ursa Minor — of which no Earthman had ever heard either.

Not only is it a wholly remarkable book, it is also a highly successful one — more popular than the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling than Fifty More Things to do in Zero Gravity, and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes and Who is this God Person Anyway?

In many of the more relaxed civilizations on the Outer Eastern Rim of the Galaxy, the Hitch Hiker's Guide has already supplanted the great Encyclopedia Galactica as the standard repository of all knowledge and wisdom, for though it has many omissions and contains much that is apocryphal, or at least wildly inaccurate, it scores over the older, more pedestrian work in two important respects.

First, it is slightly cheaper; and secondly it has the words Don't Panic inscribed in large friendly letters on its cover."

My avatar is my best little friend in the world. I got Cyberfox from a breeder in Vero Beach, Florida on July 8, 1996. He turns 12 on April 8 and has been the most wonderful thing that has happened to our family. Sadly, he contracted a neurological disease that is slowly robbing him of his ability to walk and requires the K-9 cart you see in the avatar to get around. He has accepted it without a problem and hasn't lost very much speed chasing our cat DARTH.

I never met a 14 ball I didn't like. It's like a 6 ball with stripes, one you can see the edge of.

The gaffe in the old "push out" days of 9-Ball, was to spot up the 6 ball for a spot shot. You always put the number up so all your opponent saw was the side of the solid green ball. Don't ask me why, but it is the hardest ball to make spot shots with. Maybe a 10% greater chance of missing.

The 6 ball is also the only ball that can "hide" on a green cloth covered table. I have actually seen players go from the 5 to the 7 and totally overlook the 6 ball, "hiding" on the rail near a pocket.

In One Pocket, don't ever let your opponent rack the balls with the 6 in front. It's the worst ball to shoot at, and see the edge. Granted, these are small things, but several small things can make the difference between winning and losing.

But don't tell anyone I told you. ;)

Meet Rufus. Rufus and his other brothers and sisters were born in a junk yard and were severly neglected. They were removed from the junk yard and moved into a "foster home".

Rufus had been adopted by another family but was returned to the foster home. However, prior to adopting Rufus, we adopted his sister, Liberty. We set up a play date to see how they would interact and they ran around the yard playing for about an hour and that's when I knew we would adopt him.

Rufus and Liberty still have some issues stemming from their neglect, but continue to make progress.

But when the sh*t hits the fan, and I have to lay down the law, I am the biggest and toughest cat in the house  Ergo... the "Big Cat" is born. My wife laughs every time I tell this story.

My avatar is of course Lady Liberty with one addition. In her left hand is 1776, her right hand the light of liberty beckoning all to follow and lighting the way. Under her arm is a holstered weapon. It isn't pointing at anyone to threaten them to do good 'or else,' but is there to warn potential aggressors that robbing people of liberty has its dangers and it is to be used when that warning is ignored. I love that woman with a passion. She's more beautiful than all the exposed models in the world.

I have to say the first avatar was my favorite. After seeing it I started to get dizzy and couldn't concentrate on the others. I think I need my heart medicine. :)

My avatar also needs little explanation...just a great scene from a great movie!!

Another great movie filmed in 1979, same year as the Wanderers. Trivia, even though there were a ton of extras used between both movies. Only one person claims to have been in both movies. He was a Ducky Boy in the Wanderers and a skater gang member.

But don't tell anyone I told you. ;)
That's pretty funny. We used to take the number, on the ball we spotted, and locate it just off center of where they needed to hit to make it. This supposedly would distract them. BTW, this always works.

My avatar is one of a series of images we are working on for some shirt designs.

My Avatar was chosen for two reasons. The first and biggest reason was it was animated. The second was the question and all its implications. Fascinating to think outside of the box.

Blue or red pill?

Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind. (long pause, sighs) Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.
(In his left hand, Morpheus shows a blue pill.)
Morpheus: You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. (a red pill is shown in his other hand) You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. (Long pause; Neo begins to reach for the red pill) Remember -- all I am offering is the truth, nothing more.
(Neo takes the red pill and swallows it with a glass of water)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The blue pill will leave us as we are, in a life consisting of habit, of things we believe we know. We are comfortable, we do not need truth to live. The blue pill symbolises commuting to work every day, or brushing your teeth.

The red pill is an unknown quantity. We are told that it can help us to find the truth. We don't know what that truth is, or even that the pill will help us to find it. The red pill symbolises risk, doubt and questioning. In order to answer the question, you can gamble your whole life and world on a reality you have never experienced.

After seeing all the cool avatars in this thread, I was inclined to change mine. I run a website about cephalopods (octopus and squid), at TONMO.com (http://www.tonmo.com). This avatar is a crop of a pic of the transparent deep-sea squid Teuthowenia pellucida.

My old avatar was a promotion for my other site -- PoolVids.com (http://www.poolvids.com). Old pic attached here; that's my basement table (8 ft. Olhousen). I'll keep my sig line as the promo!

I guess it's time to add my "summer job" avatar since it's almost April. Time to load the trailer and go racin'. Long hours and no pay, but a helluva rush when you get her really hooked up.

I wanted to make an artistic photo of Palmer cue inlays, so I took some of the cues from my collection, laid them into this spoked pattern, and took the photo. I framed it with a diamond cut out and added software lighting effects to create an unusual photo for my web site.

I chose the mighty Philippine Eagle as my avatar out of national pride. The Philippine Eagle is one of the largest of all eagles and has the largest wing surface area with a wingspan of almost 7ft.

You can see this majestic creature in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1K_G6xQGduw

Mine is a Mace which is a predecessor to the cue stick. I chose it because I enjoy the history of pool and billiards. I would love to be able to play some pool with one just to see how difficult it would be.

I did it in the dirt years ago. Most fun I ever had with my clothes on. Late Models, Sprints, and 100" open wheels.
