How cool was that, I was watching it too :)

Roy Steffensen
04-28-2008, 07:53 AM
And the price for running 147 in a match in the World Championship?

1000 pound (almost 2000$) each point, so that's 147 000 pound or almost 300 000 $ for 7 mins of work.

shanesinnott
04-28-2008, 07:54 AM
147k pounds for max + 10k pounds for high break (thats if no-one else gets a maximum)

So if it holds up (and should) he walks away with an extra 157K pounds or about $312,000 USD. Not bad for 10 minutes work :)

Ronnie was just interviewd and said he was 'disappointed' as he thought it was more money. But said that he'll probably buy a Bentley Continental GTC with the money.

The coverage of this event is fantastic. Not only do the show re-plays of some of the shots but at times they take a snapshot of the table layout, covert it to a HD 3D Model and fly the camera down behind the cue so you can see what the player was looking!! Amazing stuff...wish ESPN would catch on to that one. I think it would build more appreciation of how difficult this game can be at all levels.

Anyone see who won? Last I saw it was 4-4.

Now that it's the Semi Finals, they go to one table. Each match in the Semis is a race to 17 and takes 2 days. The first session between Hendry and O Sullivan ended at that 4-4 score and will continue later.

The other Semi is now on live with Perry ahead 2-0 over Carter

Roy Steffensen

AWESOME session from O'Sullivan right now.

He was down 4-1 yesterday in the semifinal against Stephen Hendry. He tied it at 4-4 when they finished yesterdays session.

This morning O'Sullivan raced to 12-4!!!

Now it's a break again, and I think they resume play in 5 hours.

Wow, 11 frames in a row, against Stephen Hendry...

Roy Steffensen
05-02-2008, 05:05 AM
This was the score in each frame + the players highest breaks.

Hendry - O'Sullivan.
0-101(93) - 4-5
61(54)-72(44) - 4-6
35(35)-85(57) - 4-7
0-87(87) - 4-8
0-133(133) - 4-9
0-135(135) - 4-10
16-93(85) - 4-11
53(44)-76(70) - 4-12

They played the first session earlier and are now on break, Tanner.

Ronnie fluked a red and ran enough points to win the last frame and lead 6-2. I think it comes back on at 3pm Eastern, noon for the west coast.

Wow, anyone else watching right now? They got this imaging system (or whatever you wanna call it) that takes a picture of the table from above and zooms down to give a view from the players perspective, so you can see "if it goes" or not! Its amazing! Never again would you have to hear a commentator say "I can't tell from here if he has the angle or not." I'd certainly donate some dough to Pat Flemming to get this system =)

Edit: Sorry I missed MikeMaaen's post pointing this out =p

It's a pretty cool system (or whatever you wanna call it). I haven't seen it used before, hope it's something that can be used for pooltournaments too...

I would be dead nervous to play that final match on The Crucible. 3500 spectators watching it live, and more than 3 000 000 people watching it live only in England. Then you have the European and Asian viewers too, + all the people who watch it live on the internet...

Good read about Ronnie O'Sullivan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_o%27sullivan

Here's a small part of the story:

When he first displayed this left-handed ability in the 1996 World Championship against Alain Robidoux, the Canadian accused him of disrespect. O'Sullivan responded that he played better with his left hand than Robidoux could with his right.[3] O'Sullivan was summoned to a disciplinary hearing in response to Robidoux's formal complaint, where he had to prove that he could play to a high level with his left hand. He played three frames of snooker against former world championship runner-up Rex Williams, winning all three. The charge of bringing the game into disrepute was subsequently dropped.

I've posted the link a couple times, but anyone who wants to see how good Ronnie shoots left handed merely needs to type in "Ronnie left handed" on youtube and the video will pop up.

He plays fantastic with his left hand.
