I have just returned from the Saturday nite session for this tournamet at Kolby's Pool Room in Tempe, Arizona. 4 players remain; Archer, Immonen, Hillbilly and Mike Davis for tomorrow.

The UPA has done a phoenominal job in adjusting to the last minute issue at the original venue and the management team responded quickly and moved the tournament to Kolbys and have put on a fabulous tournament and the organization should be proud. Jay Helfert is the tournament director and did an awesome job of running the tournament after the UPA management staff changed everything to house players coming from all over the USA and the world. Many are flying to Korea and IPT event tomorrow for another tournaments and as an occassional critic of pool players/organizations, this was a tribute to this group of professionals. I wish I knew the correct names but Alverez and Bobbitt come to my mind from UPA and Jim Kolby who mades this venue change possible and successfull.

Congrats to all.

FYI Jimmy the Owners of Kolby's name is Jimmy Lasngston, I think he deserves a big thanks for doing what he did on short notice.http://www.geocities.com/cocobolocowboy/thumbsup.gif http://www.geocities.com/cocobolocowboy/thumbsup.gif http://www.geocities.com/cocobolocowboy/thumbsup.gif http://www.geocities.com/cocobolocowboy/thumbsup.gif

I agree. He is certainly to be commended for stepping up to the plate to make sure the UPA event went smooth sailing ahead. The player roster is stellar, too.

One thing I did wonder about, only after the fact, of course, is if tables were originally ordered to be installed at the the hotel.

I hope the table installers were not en route to Arizona to install tables at the hotel site and then found out a day or two before the event that the tables would not be needed anymore because the hotel site was canceled. I know it takes time to move tables from one location to another.

At any rate, Kolby's is a name I will remember. What a great pool spirit the Kolby owners have. They are to be commended! :)

Yes the table were to be put in the room at the hotel I understand from another room owner. but were never installed at the hotel or kolbys, as Kolby's Brunswicks Gold Crowns were used for the event.

I also heard the table installers were on the ground in PHX, after a flight from where Diamond sent them from when the events venue was changed.
