I've recently started to play pool for more than just a bar game while being with friends. I have found a new appreciation for the sport and it's community. As of yet I'm still just playing straight 8 until I get more familiar with the geometry of some shots. Now that I've started to take it more seriously I have stopped alot of my scratching while lining shots. Studying alot of the pro challenge videos I find here are amazingly helpful and quite impressive http://forums.azbilliards.com/blog.php?u=6513.

I also some people making their own cues! I hadn't thought about it but this would be a good step if I decided to start playing billiards in a more competitive manner. This chap here has done a fantastic job http://forums.azbilliards.com/blog.php?u=44111 with his cue and keeping his high standards of craftsmanship and drive.
Playing this sport with this new respect has made my evenings out with the mates more interesting as well. I am no longer THE GUY that handicaps a team or sends a ball rolling from the table. We now go to the bars have a drink rack up and have fun. We have also started playing poker on and offline. Truly an evolution of the gentlemen's game.
