Early Exit For Some Of 2011 World Cup Of Pool’s Front Runners

The first round of the 2011 World Cup Of Pool came out as shocking as top teams China and England crash out of the tournament to Switzerland and Estonia respectively.
In the race to eight elimination, World Cup Of Pool defending champs Fu Jianbo and Li Hewen of China got swished by an 8-4 defeat courtesy of Switzerland’s Ronni Regli and Dimitri Jungo while team England’s Chris Melling and Darren Appleton got wasted by Estonia’s Dennis Grabe and Erki Erm, 6-8.
The victory of both Switzerland and Estonia came as a surprise considering that the two teams were the only teams which had to qualify for this year’s World Cup Of Pool. Since Team Switzerland and Estonia were denied an automatic entry in the tournament, they went through a qualification round held in Austria last July 6, 2011 first.
Other front runners which had an early exit include the teams coming from Finland and the USA. Finland’s Mika “The Iceman” Immonen together with Petri Makkonen fought a good fight against India’s Raj “The Hitman” Hundal & Amar Kang, 7-8. Team USA, which is composed of Corey Deuel & Mike Dechaine, unluckily failed to survive a hill-hill match against Singaporeans Bernard Tey and Chan Keng Kwang.
The 2011 World Cup Of Pool kicked off on September 6 and is being held at the Block Atrium, SM North EDSA, Philippines. There are 32 teams coming from different nations competing for the title and the event’s top prize of $60,000. The winning team will be decided in the 2011 World Cup Of Pool Final on September 11.
