FS - Joss West

It is pretty sweet. I thought about buying it all week but never pulled the trigger. He didn't even take it in to have it cleaned up any. The only thing I could find wrong with it were a couple scratches on a ferrule and I could feel one of the seams where the butt was put together. He hopes that a player will get it. I could have gotten a really good deal on it if I promised to shelf my cue and use it as my player but I am happy with my lineup right now.

No. I don't ever recall saying there was a taper roll at all. Not even sure why you would suggest I said their was one. Here is the exact PM that I sent you regarding the condition.

"I got pictures of the joss west. It is at least 98% condition. One of the ivory ferrules has a few scratches in it. The piece on the butt with the maple boxes in it has a place where you can feel the edge where it was put together. No nicks that I saw anywhere. Everything appeared straight. It doesn't look like it was used for more than a month. Probably late 1970s cue. I couldn't tell if the little hoppe style rings were ivory or not. He wanted at least $1500 but said $1400 would buy it. I offered him $1200 and he rejected it pretty quick. Let me know what you think. I don't have an exact weight but it felt around 19 oz and the shafts were both the same. Probably 12.75mm.

I Must Have Been Mistaken

I never said that you told me....I was merely asking for verification purposes...If you recall, I previously asked if you could verify that there was no taper roll with the assembled cue rolled on a flat surface. If you inferred anything else, I'm sorry. I've looked at a lot of cues and spoken with lots of people about Joss West cues from the period 72-80. Not surprisingly, virtually every cue has had some taper roll on one of the shafts. If I confused the listings, I apologize but it's common for cues from that period to manifest some taper lift. This particular cue might have genuine, true shafts but nonetheless, the question was certainly worth raising. I'm sure the cue's eventual new owner will be ulltimately pleased with their purchase.

Whatever you say. Your previous posts seemed awfully clear in their implied message, which was that I somehow told you that this cue was stated inaccurately. There was absolutely no reasons for those posts whatsoever. I have a feeling the new owner will be pleased with the cue. Thanks.

Like i said...apparently had the cues confused....it's not uncommon for any 30+ yr old cue shaft to exhibit taper roll.....anyway nuf sed 'bout that and Ditto about the cue's next owner.
