A few months ago the forum developed some sort of problem that causes posts to sometimes load slowly, or pages will time out (for example when submitting new posts, or clicking user CP, or just going to the next page of a thread).

I think for now they've been trying to tackle it on their own, but it might turn out that they need to pay someone to figure out the issue... maybe they'll need to upgrade some software or hardware.

Would you be willing to chip in, if it turns out this issue needs money to fix?

I would. It seems only fair, the forum's been a source of knowledge and entertainment for years, and I'm thinking this might be a good excuse to give something back. Who's with me?

Easy solution if you want to help the forum financially...

Go Hereand sign up to be a club member. Plus you get more PM space and Bigger avatars.

1 Month is $3.95
3 Months is $10.95
6 Months is $19.95
12 Months is $34.95

No one is making you buy a subscription to this forum, but $3.95 a month towards your favorite hobby is a hell of a deal considering the vast amount of information here.

Where else can you argue with CJ Wiley, Mike Dechaine, Danny Harriman, Keith McCready or any other number of former, current or future pros?

I can piss away $20 in a night at the bar in no time, or stocking up on extra goodies for the g/f, not to mention league dues! 6 months of entertainment(and a little knowledge) is well worth it.

If everyone shared your attitude, this would be a whole different forum!

I'm in, where do we go from here?

OK Creedo, you got me. I'm now a club member. Agree with all you guys it's possible to do more for AZ. Really don't think Jerry needs the financial help but I've been here for a long, long time. Almost to the beginning of AZ. Certainly pre 2003. A few dollars a month ain't gonna hurt! Now about fixing the speed issues.......

Hurricane Sandy and the Nor'easter put a damper on things

Folks:

I posted this in the "Forum speed?" thread:
Hi folks:

I'm the "regular" that CreeDo is talking about. And I sincerely apologize that this problem has been lagging on for so long, but please understand -- my area was hit HARD by Hurricane Sandy and quickly followed-up with a Nor'easter (extreme snow storm).

I have been extremely busy helping customers all over the NY/NJ/CT areas recover from these two events, working hard in data centers and getting disaster recovery centers set up for these customers, so their employees have a network on which to work. All this, while my OWN utilities at home (electricity, cable TV, Internet) were knocked out.

Again, I do apologize for the lag in identifying and resolving the problem. We were making good headway, until events of late.

I'll see if I can find some time soon -- most likely during the evening hours or the weekend -- to log into the servers and resume the troubleshooting / remediation efforts.

Apologies,
-Sean

I do mean that, too. I'll do my best. Yes, it is volunteer work, and as I mentioned above, natural disaster events of late have obviously kept my plate full in the day job, working late into the night helping my customers get their enterprise networks back on line for business.

However, I'll support whatever decision Mike and Jerry make to resolve these problems once and for all. Focused contiguous time is a problem with volunteer work, so if a paid resource is what's decided, I'll support that decision.

In any case, I'll do my best with the time I have -- I promise!
-Sean
