    Rule question - called shots

You call one ball and that's it. There's no such thing as a back-up ball or a contingency call - that's riduculous and if anyone tried crap like that on me I'd immediately call him a weasel and tell him to go F##k himself. Fact is I don't play rotation based games, including 9 and 10 ball, if...

A good break is in your technique!

I use my break cue for 8-ball and 9-ball when I want to break the crap out of the balls, but use my playing cue when I go for an 8-ball on the break since I go for the second ball and have to use draw to prevent scratching. For power, my break stroke is a lot different than my regular poke - I...

    Smoke Free rooms in Florida

Unfortunately, none of the rooms I play in or bars where my pool league team ventures are smoke free. For this, my wife expects me to quit playing. "Get serious," I tell her. She read somewhere on Web MD that those who regularly expose themselves to second-hand smoke increase their risk of heart...

How far can you go without joining a league?

Obviously you don't have to play in leagues, but I believe league play is good practice. For me, personally, I feel much more pressure when I'm not just playing for myself, but for my fellow teammates. I see lots of players out there in local tournaments who can't play under pressure. I think a...

    The Box kicking system

Bob May's One Rail Kicking System I blogged about Bob's system shortly after he showed it to me. I've heard of similar systems but I believe Bob stumbled on this himself even if others have too. It's really helped me, but, as with all shots, you have to practice with it since even a tad of...

    The Box kicking system

Obviously, I don't know how to use CueTable, but maybe you can make sense of this. The dimensions of the box are determined by the location of the cb and the ball your kicking at. The intersection of lines made from those balls to the opposite corners of the box determines the target on...

    Elk Master tip

A lot of my friends stick them on their bar cues cuz they make it easier to put jizz on the heavy cue balls.

    The best S/P's

Yeah, there are a lot of Bob Frey fans down here, too. I've got two SPs, a Josey which is my favorite playing stick, and a Falcon which serves me well as a bar cue. Below is the Josey.

    Payouts?

Better late than never. I looked for the payouts for a couple days when the open was over and couldn't find them listed anywhere, on any pool site. There weren't any links withing the AZ stories on the open, Inside Pool, etc. I thought there was a conspiracy to hide the results from the IRS. :lmao:
