The cue could be straight but the clear coat on the shaft might be a little uneven causing a small taper in the roll. It won't effect the play of the cue. I have the same problem with my cue. Posted from Azbilliards.com App for Android

they also sell shot pads that are actually pads. but each page has a table lay out and a note field and a cue ball to indicate english. but the app looks way better.
