    Funny pic/gif thread...

I avoid this thread like the plague, just so every so often I can kill several hours at a time catching up. Apologies if this has already been seen here. Be warned: you may be in trouble the next time someone challenges you not to think of jumping elephants.

    I got a QUESTION.....Aiming the natural way

I'm no expert, but I know of exactly what you speak. I always say I play by feel. When banking long rail, I never-ever need to look back to the pocket to "see where it is." My brain and body just seem to 'know' where it is, and the pocket draws my brainwaves, and hopefully the ball, right to it...

    Self Implosion

Blind Late Ball helps me... Whenever I feel my own game dropping well below my average, I know that I'm probably letting a few key flaws creep back. Not sighting well, rushing, jumping up, or excessive BH english are usually the responsible demons. If I really need a good kick start to get back...

    CTE aiming.

Holy heck, I can't believe I've made it through this whole thread. It's taken four or five days reading 20 minutes / session. Just FWIW, I'm an aim by feel, middle of the road player. I hate, make that *HATE* math, but I can sight angles and mid points extremely well. I can walk up to any wall...

    First Cue and Warping

I have a Mcdermott w/ no wrap, and love the cue regardless of the warranty. As for a wrapless cue, well... I don't do "decoration" very well. This from the guy who told the car salesman I'd take a sledgehammer to the front fenders of a vehicle if he'd drop the price by a few thousand dollars...

Dominent Eye Quiz for All You AZ'ers

I'm curious about the dominant eye. As a pro photographer, I know I always lift may camera to look through a view finder with my left eye - which really sucks cuz it causes me to accidentally hit control buttons I don't want to hit. Every single time I try to use my right eye through the view...

    Your Take On Sandbagging!

I'm so happy I play in a BCA league where there is little to no evidence of any deliberate sandbagging. Even more, where the scoring system isn't primed to encourage sandbagging in order to keep the team together or to go to a regional or national event. The simple fact is that the best teams in...

What percent of posters here shoot on leagues?

I play in a BCA league here in the SF (East) Bay Area. I've been playing for about 4 years and am a solid mid-level player and improving each season. We use a what I feel to be a very fair handicapping system. What makes this league good IMHO is simply that it's filled with a full spectrum of...

Banging balls while searching for the secrets of the universe

Good on him and a great read. Thank for sharing. An armchair fan of physics myself, I think his nickname should be Jonni "Impact" Fulcher. Afterall, that what the LHC is all about, smashing things together and seeing what kind of stuff ricochets out of the impact. Cheers,

    Total meltdown....

I know that when I get frustrated at repeated mistakes, I usually find that I'm rushing my shots, which usually results in poor sighting or throwing in some unwanted BHE. I try to slow down my shot making. When it hits the extreme, like I couldn't hit a 6" pocket, then I find that shooting...

What is the best excuse you've heard?

Never used as an excuse, but a teammate of mine hit a slow-rolling table length shot on the 8 just as a 4.6 quake hit. Yeah, he missed. By the time the 8 reached the other end of the table, all the lights and bottles in the place were rattling pretty good.

Yeah, what he said; Much win over very little lame.

    Where to play in Tahoe?

Just adding an update to this thread for the sake of the archive and future searches. I went back to South Lake Tahoe a couple weeks back with wife and kids. While in the hotel, saw a TV ad for the Sports Bar at Bills and the ad featured the pool tables. Don't expect to find any serious pool...

    Talking while playing...what's your opinion?

Extremely well said. I find I tend to be more of a relaxed player, and don't mind music and crowds, save some 'cat-killing' karaoke. But I grew up playing golf and fishing with my dad, so I learned to also appreciate and respect the times when "quiet is called for." Just imagine some yuphead...
