Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

That's okay it's only a few weeks old. My wife was in hospital for a long time and we decided to postpone Christmas until she got out.

Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

Here is a video of shots from the front with the cue ball and object ball on donuts, there is an extra donut on the same line to show where the tip finishes. Hopefully this video id better, thanks for your help :)

Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

Th Thanks Fran I will try moving my right foot a little to give my arm more clearance. I know that the head-on video is not ideal, but it does look like I am dropping my shoulder as I hit the ball.

Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

Thanks for the comments Bob. I realize that the video isn't ideal because of parallax etc. I am out on the road working all over the USA at the moment and did the best I could with a cell phone and a strange pool hall. I don't think the guy behind that bar would have let me put donuts on his...

Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

That is a very good question, normally I would have a goal but in this particular instance I was just trying to make the ball and get some footage. I was just shooting the diagonal line between the two pockets with the ball roughly in the center of the table.

Ok I got to play in a little place in Ohio last night. I took some shots from the front, there is definitely something going on....

Fran could you name a few couple of players who play with the cue grip in the back of the hand so that I can see what's involved. I'm a bit of a visual learner. I find it awkward unless my arm is forward of 90 degrees at address. Thanks

I don't use a closed bridge except for one particular shot where I am half on half off the rail.

Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

I am not cross eye dominant, I have my cue 1/2 way between right eye and nose. I will try to move my stance a small distance to the left and see if it makes a difference. In your experience how many inches to the left to give sufficient clearance?

Hitting 1/2 Tip to the Left on Center Ball Shots, Should I Fix My Stroke or Adapt?

I could be wrong but it "feels" more like I am pulling the cue to the right on the final backswing and not on the forward stroke.

Thanks Patrick, I will take a look at that, is the steering before or after the ball is hit?

So what would you recommend as a course of action to correct the flaw in my stroke? As a side note I started playing snooker with a short cue, I used to hold my cue with my back 3 fingers. My forearm was forward of the 90 degree position at ball address and I dropped my elbow a lot more.
