You could measure diameter if you had a test standard ball, say a ground steel ball bearing that is 2.250 then you could measure plus or minus on your test indicator. You could also use this to test how well your fixture works
Or just put them in a CMM machine
I have two Clausing 5914 lathes I'd like to sell. The one on the stand was gone through and painted right before I bought it $3500 for it. The one sitting on the floor is a little dirty from being stored but is a nice lathe with a little elbow grease $2500. Both have the hydraulic system in...
Hate to disagree with you, But I hear these things from people that haven't worked a lot of ivory before.
Nothing looks exactly like ivory, I can tell the difference between a raw piece of ivory and elforyn from arms length and can feel the difference with my hands. I don't think they look...
This story is not quite right.
Jun is the business owner / investor more so than the cue maker. He also didn't apprentice under Andy or Keith. He was a dealer for both cue makers years ago. Under some questionable circumstances he used his position as their dealer to pickup on some cue making...
If you lathe is run using a G & M code for a "CNC Lathe" your feed rate would be the pitch of the thread your trying to cut.
Pitch is 1/TPI
So for 3/8-10 you use 0.100 or in lathe code F 0.100
The RPM doesn't matter on a lathe G code as the feed is in IPR (inches per revolution)
If it...
Some of the post's give the impression that the term "CNC" only applies to one type of machine in this case a CNC inlay machine or milling machine.
The truth is "CNC" ( computer numeric control ) can be applied to just about any type of machine you can dream of and probably already has been...
There's a new pool room in Colinsville just South of the ketchup bottle in the strip mall don't think they have a lot going on there. It's called "The Spot" all new diamonds with purple cloth.
Teachers in St. Peters would probably be the best bet for a tournament.
Cue & Cushion is a cool old...
He probably posts / tells people he hustled his way through college and owned a one of a kind signed Balabushka cue that would be worth at least 100 K today.
Your set up looks ok.
One thing I like to do when cutting threads in wood with a thread mill is to put the head stock in high gear or in between gears (most lathes will still turn the lead screw like this) then I spin the chuck or spindle by hand. This gives you more control to stop it before...
