Dang, are we gonna just stand around patting each other's back?

I strongly agree with this post. I would much prefer to see great pool played than see somebody come unglued. Watching a young Earl laughing and applauding his opponent's great shots, that is what I...

jumping

Earl was jumping playing twoshot pushout before most could. He hates jump cues but they are his bastard children. Other pro's had to tote jump cues just to try to keep up with Earl without one.

Johnny Archer

I was thinking about it last night for some reason. Seems like Johnny is comparatively forgotten now.

I do agree with you, much more level fields now. Pro, amateur, all areas. Partially it is...

Interesting!

Congratulations to Jen! Congratulations to Stu! seems like the two of you make a powerful team. Stu supplied a little extra in the skill department, Jen was and is able to handle the heat in an...

Efren for me

In the early seventies I saw video of a young and healthy Willie Mosconi playing. He was playing spot shape, something I had never even considered possible. Caused me to majorly revise my game over...

goodernuff!

According to my cyphering, if you are warmed up and playing you will make this shot a dozen times out of a baker's dozen times. Goodernuff! Of course since you didn't shoot until the second miss...

warping and cold steel

.008" warp is easily visible to the naked eye. Especially if it is in the middle of something and the end is another fifteen inches away. Roll that cue!

The truth is we expect truly ridiculous...

a sliding scale is used

In some conflicts it has been very hard to get a Medal of Honor, as it should be in my opinion. Some conflicts it was easier. I think the Medal was first given in the war of northern aggression and...

silicone lubricants

There are a lot of silicone based lubricants out there. Amongst other things rubbing the balls with a cloth or t-shirt treated with silicone will make the balls come apart better. Makes them travel...

a touch of side.

Sometimes on those table length shots needing to cut the paint off of a ball to get it in a corner pocket I will use a touch of outside english. It isn't to make the shot, it is to keep the cue ball...

Stacking on a pool table is smart!

Nice to have the end rails to keep them from rolling off the table then you can stack them up to the light in the middle if you need to.

The only thing you have to worry about is the wife selling...

rezactly!

Short of me to mention pool in NPR I know but that is what pro's miss, "performance-based salaries". All of these performers, the highly paid pro athletes, they are all bringing in even more for...

Only one class guy in the bunch

President Trump didn't serve. mlk didn't serve. obama didn't serve. Mr Dorie Miller served and served heroically. Most of these really big cans get the name of a president or dead senator hung on...

That came out of nowhere!

A funny: I just woke from a long afternoon nap, resting up before going to sleep. When I read three count I flashed to Lawrence Welk, "ah one, two, three ... It was like an almost awakened nightmare!...

Nice!!

Dorie has had a bathtub or two named after him already. I thought the insignificance of the boats/ships was a slap. The finest aircraft carrier in the fleet, that is more like it!

that bad shot

We all make bad shots, even the best. They make fewer bad shots and they don't worry about them.

For me, I have to acknowledge the shot, hammer myself, forget it, in that order.

I noticed...

Yep, Bob was awesome at what he did. I suspect lead powder, very tiny pellets, to do the balloon trick but that doesn't really help much and has nothing to do with the speed. I'll PM you a bit more,...

It wasn't the every saturday night thing

Not particularly a fan of Bob's. More impressed with competition shooters. Like most absolute statements, Bob is wrong. For example, the OK Corral shootout happened, pretty much exactly as shown in...

I'd say Florian is a lot like Bob Muldon. (Apologies if I abused the spelling of names!) Bob isn't a particularly great competitor but he can do things with a revolver nobody else can. Two shots so...

Being a fair chess player I gobbled up pattern play. I could read runouts multiple different ways as I walked up to the table. If the table was tougher than usual I might walk the long way around the...

I have seen first hand some of the school lunches. Nobody with a choice would eat that stuff and the kids either pass on lunch or take a few bites and done. They will choose to not eat over eating...

When we look at our founding fathers closely we find some all too flawed humans. Not too surprising when they are all committing treason. That makes their vision, their abilities to rise to the...
