I had a wood-to-wood 3/8x10 joint tasc with the black phenolic collar very similar to this. Not the traditional Tasc look, but probably the best hitting cue I've ever had.

You read my mind. Those are my two favorite Schons, though I've only ever owned an R-1. Always wanted an R-6. The R-1 I had played just about as well as any cue I've owned.
