Many of the early Meucci's had heavily grained juma or plastic which appeared to be ivory-like. Some did have ivory, but they were made is less quantities - some of the Jim Rempe limited models....

Especially accounting for jet lag, tournaments are certainly easier when you're on your home turf. Trying to focus at an extremely high level when your sleep schedule is all messed up is no easy feat.
