The only open-bridge people I have seen get better draw results with a closed bridge are the people who have stroke...

With a solid open bridge with a well-defined "V," I think the cue is actually more likely to stay straighter than with a closed bridge, especially with a "non-elite"...

An open bridge actually has advantages (https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/bridge/open/). With a good stroke, there is no reason why a closed bridge would be better on a draw shot.
