finding the degree of your eye dominance

If you've tried under each eye, have you tried to locate your vision center, which for nearly all players is not directly under an eye but somewhere else on their face?

    Help with stroke😮‍💨

How hard is your grip on a scale of 1 to 10? Are you closing your hand to finish your forward stroke. There's a lot of "oomph" near the end of your stroke, you don't look like you have a gentle, relaxed finish with the cue stick. My $0.02.

Stroke with no acceleration versus stroke with acceleration

The "oomph" or conscious acceleration for most strokes IMHO should be for the first bit of the forward stroke (to change direction or get it going from a standing start if one has a long pause to complete the backstroke). So if someone uses a 7-inch bridge, I tell them to put on the jets for...

Stroke with no acceleration versus stroke with acceleration

True. But we can amend to note the countless players who cannot execute draw, both straight back and to a precise distance for shape, because they hit the cue ball hard, inaccurately (having been told their chief thought should be acceleration rather than a smooth stroke).

Stroke with no acceleration versus stroke with acceleration

The study (coasting at impact) aligns with what I teach. There is an overemphasis in modern pool teaching on consciously accelerating the stroke. If the backstroke is long enough for the upcoming shot and the forward stroke is smooth, not hurried with hand wiggling, conscious acceleration, etc...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

Air stroking in the port arms position is not a recent phenomenon, unless I'm misunderstanding something. Some things I have done/others do when air stroking: 1) Get the feel of the stroke hand grip before changing the cue's angle (in the full stance) 2) Rehearse the approximate speed and...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

I'm describing (pool or snooker) standing erect, your chest, hips and feet perpendicular to the line of centers (OB and CB) for best aim/consistent aim before you step into/bend into the full shooting stance. This pre-shot routine places your head and eyes in the exact same place every time, so...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

Players consider the upcoming shot while air stroking. Two kinds of pool players start their aim process standing 90 degrees to the line of centers, not the shot line as I wrote. I see I did write aim line/shot like in error above, and I was thinking about the line of centers when I wrote, but...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

Only if you want to have an absolute frame of reference for measuring the shot angle. Players who stand with their vision center over the shot line often are inconsistent in feet placement, etc. leading to inconsistent head rotation/head distance from the OB, etc.--therefore inconsistent sighting.

Help please correcting flaw with my technique (Video)

Hello Herbie and welcome to AZ Forums, Your video's pre-shot routine consistently starts with your arm on the shot line then you walk into the stance with, as mentioned above, some issues. I recommend your start sighting/standing with your navel behind the shot line instead, not the right arm...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

I gave five reasons why pool players do it but snooker pros are like other pros in other sports, they do (or don't do) as many things from tradition or orthodoxy as they do for good reasons. I get flamed on AZ mostly by people who can't stand when I teach non-traditional methods that work. I've...

What does pumping the cue over and over up in the air before their shot do for the pros?

Some things I have done/others do when air stroking: 1) Get the feel of the stroke hand grip before changing the cue's angle (in the full stance) 2) Rehearse the approximate speed and follow through of the upcoming stroke (plus you are rehearsing the shot mentally without the...

    bridge length/level cue/stroke

I can ignore your being rude (and ridiculous), but I notice that you fly off the handle whenever a non-orthodox pool technique is presented--not just by me. Your own game will not improve as long as you shut your mind to innovative ideas.

    bridge length/level cue/stroke

    bridge length/level cue/stroke

I'll spell it out for you. Since the cue stick for most shots is angled downward toward the cloth rather than parallel to the cloth, continuing the back stroke beyond where the ferrule reaches the vee of the hand either changes direction to ride levelly along the meat of the hand, or continues...

    bridge length/level cue/stroke

Have you discussed this with pro players, as I have? Have you worked this student players, as I have? Have you checked your assertions with other teachers, for example, Dr. Dave, who agrees with me regarding a long backstroke and smoothness, and disagrees with you?

finding the degree of your eye dominance

I hear what you're saying, but VC doesn't always make the cue stick look straight, it makes the shot picture correct. That is, a perfectly straight shot appears dead straight without any cut angle. There are players who see the shots well but when they glance down, their cue stick looks off or...

    bridge length/level cue/stroke

If the vee of the hand/loop of the hand is highest, and the cue tip at the ball is the lowest (cue stick angled down for the stroke), coming with the ferrule so far back that it slides a short distance along the vee will slightly level the stick (for most players/most bridges). Horrible...
