    WORLD POOL CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 June2021) Champion $50K

I've seen tournaments where it's double elimination until the final 16, at which point it goes single elimination. So why not end the DE rounds until you are down to 32, or 8, or 4?

    WORLD POOL CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 June2021) Champion $50K

Except that Albin did need that second bullet after losing to Gomez in his second match. I agree with CaleAYS that something just doesn't feel right when the winner of the event lost earlier in the tournament while many others got eliminated in the later rounds after only one loss. The...

    Shane's draw break

It depends on how hard you hit the break. Drawing the CB between the two pockets is fairly easy to control (IMO) if you're breaking as softly as Alcano did in 2006. Of course, accuracy degrades the harder you hit it.

    Shane's draw break

I remember Ronnie Alcano used that same break to win the 2006 WPC title.

    Yahoo.....COVID Vaccinations Are Gaining Steam........Alleluia!

Children are the main drivers of the flu. Many children have not been going to school, and for those that have gone to school they do so with mask wearing and social distancing. Children usually aren't allowed to ignore those rules enforced in schools. As for COVID, the main drivers are...

    Yahoo.....COVID Vaccinations Are Gaining Steam........Alleluia!

That's a nice little straw man and false dilemma all wrapped up into one. Good job.

    Yahoo.....COVID Vaccinations Are Gaining Steam........Alleluia!

Good post. It's amazing how many here think that if you work to protect yourselves and others and also have a respect for the ones who have died (and also the ones who are suffering from long term symptoms), then you MUST be locking yourself in your "basement" and not living a "full life".

    Tournaments while wearing masks

I understand your point, but I'm guessing you wouldn't be okay with see through masks either. The free market in action, right?

    Cueball Path = Vector Addition?

Actually, the CB path after contact is solved through vector subtraction. You take the vector of the CB path before contact and subtract from it the vector of the OB post contact to solve for the vector of the CB path post contact. But I understand what you mean.

    43 to old to start?

The OP is now in his 60s.

    I sympathize with Billy Thorpe

Is alternating breaks used in conjunction with this solution? It would be interesting to see data on how much of an increase the BNR percentages of the pros have with this breaking rule.

    Corey invents again

Good comment on the inside english. I was going to post the same thing. Without inside, the 8 probably would have had more "checking" english coming off the 5 ball that would have made the 8 bank short.

Is the National Billiards League legit, or a scam?

Zero of the $4800 entry fee purse is paid out to the top 8 in the qualifiers, per this post in the other thread.

Is the National Billiards League legit, or a scam?

I thought the issues were pretty obvious when I first read about it... https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/all-new-american-pro-tour-nbl-national-billiards-league.522695/page-3#post-6808935

Ratio of Pool Skill to Money Spent (or Given) on Cues

That's why I only mentioned pool cues. ;) If the metric is total money spent on pool, then I'm nowhere near a block favorite. Asides from my TI-85 calculator I bought (or more accurately my mom bought) in high school, that pool table $ for $ is the best purchase I've made in my life.

Ratio of Pool Skill to Money Spent (or Given) on Cues

Good point. With your first cue, you can rapidly increase your skill level. As as you purchase more equipment over the years, your skill level can continue increasing, but it most likely won't outpace the rate at which you spend on pool equipment. So that ratio for everyone probably peaks...

Ratio of Pool Skill to Money Spent (or Given) on Cues

If there ever is a way to objectively measure such a ratio, then think I just might be a world beater. The carbon fiber thread got me thinking. I've never hit a ball with a carbon fiber shaft. Heck, I've never even held a Predator product (or OB product or any custom cue) in my hands. I am...

Still haven't hit a ball with a carbon fiber shaft.

I haven't. Heck, I haven't even hit a ball with a Predator product. How many can say that?

Long Dong vs the 3 foul rule question...if he had gotten the ball safe and Vilmos fouled, would he have won the game?

I'm more interested in the fact that he double-hit the CB, probably intentionally because the 6 ball would never have cleared the area the way it did. Couldn't that technically be considered unsportsmanlike if he purposely double-hit the CB to gain an advantage?
