    LD and Power

Because I tested them. Edit: To clarify, before I committed to buying carbon, I tested to see how much more or less deflection my buddy's Jacoby had than my Lucasi. I didn't want to get one if it wasn't similar to what I was used to. I repeatedly shot max english towards the same spot on the...

    LD and Power

I'll drop my $0.02 in here. I have 2 LD shafts, a lucasi slim, and a Jacoby black. They play very similarly. They have a very similar tip size, and similar tip hardness (the tip on the Lucasi is actually a tad harder). They have an identical (IDENTICAL) amount of deflection. They have a very...

1970's/80's Brunswick Tables - Can be the Base Frame be Disassembled???

This is the way I'd read it.

Hm. Out of the box thinking for sure. If you could make the rails stable enough I could see it working, like use actual train track rail and machined wheels with heavy duty bearings. Might be a bit irritating to have to roll the table every time you're stuck, but definitely better than having to...

    Operation: Bar Box Rescue

I built a drawer to fill that hole for all my odds and ends. Very handy for storing misc pool junk.

    Operation: Bar Box Rescue

Man that's a cool little table, can't wait to see it done.

    Flying with your cue

I don't know about flying with a cue, but I could ask my ex wife about flying with a broom if you want. Should be similar.

    Your next shot?

So how did it play out?

To be fair though, there's nothing better than straight pool on a well tuned 8 footer. I wish I'd have had the room to go up to an 8, so I definitely feel for where the OP is coming from.

SLate Joints - Beeswax or Body Filler?

I'm a bondo guy, but I don't think it really matters.

When I first got my table, I wasn't sure it'd fit in my garage. I measured and measured and measured to make sure that cueing wouldn't be hampered anywhere. Luckily I could fit a 7' table... just barely, because my ridiculous lowball offer was accepted, and I could get a valley for $200. If...

7' and it's not even close. 8 would be a nightmare, it's just no fun to get into a groove, and have to break your rhythm just to go find the shorty cue. 14' would be my personal minimum for a 4x8. I don't like their recommendation at all.

How to level a pool table when the floor you have it on moves

I've never seen a more clear cut need for someone to develop a mag-lev pool table.

    Your next shot?

Bank the 10 in off the 5 a bit more than pocket weight. If it goes you should get out, if not the 5 is likely screwed.

    Ball cleaner project

Nope, it uses the gearing from the drill press. Here's a pic of the guts:

    Ball cleaner project

The motor/gearing is an upside down drill press I got for $30 second hand. It's fastened to a steel frame with rubber feet, and the box is fastened to the frame. Lots of hours, maybe 20-30 or more. I made a lot of changes as I went, completely rebuilt the frame several times to get the smallest...

Worst and best cue you have ever used

When I first started playing in the 80s a well meaning soul gave me one of these. Here's a pic exactly like the one I had. Mine had removable weights in between the sections of the cue. Edit: Oh, wait, this one has the weights too. They're the silver discs you see between the sections. Just...

    Ball cleaner project

Wanted to say thanks again for your help. Got mine built, and man does it work well. I put a "Zirconium" badge/logo on it (because it's a knockoff diamond). Blows the doors off of the last cleaner I made. I'm sure the Aramith cleaner I got played its part as well. Restored my old Centennial...
