Are there any 7ft tables to consider besides a diamond

To beat the same dead horse, a properly tuned valley plays just fine and is virtually indestructible. One piece slate will always be better than 3. Edit: And no, you don't need pro-cut pockets. Most of the people that insist on them couldn't run a table with factory spec pockets to save their...

How do you handle light sharking?

Playing through stuff like this is a skill. Develop it.

20 dollar chalk?? What’s the world coming to?

Not remotely. Messier than Master for sure.

20 dollar chalk?? What’s the world coming to?

Just some observations: Difference between Taom and Master in performance: Negligible. Difference between Taom and Master in cleanliness: Immense. Difference between Taom and Master in longevity: I'd estimate Taom lasts at least 5x longer. Maybe more. Difference between Pyro and V10...

2023 World Pool Championship, Kielce, Poland

It's like watching Chris Melling, except Soufi is more Melling than Melling.

How do you have your table marked?

Naw, it's great advice. It's your table. If you want it to be a pristine showpiece, that's totally fine. My table is for playing and learning. If I want to set up a reproduceable scenario, I have no problem marking a few stray dots on the cloth for reference. Maybe just not for the first few...

How do you have your table marked?

Full marking: -head string -foot spot -rack outline -spot line (from foot spot to center of foot rail) All done (neatly) with thick sharpie so it's visible on camera. I can't imagine playing 14.1 without a rack outline, seems like it would be unnecessarily distracting and time consuming.

Where can I find ball type score keeper?

This isn't quite what you're after, but I made mine using something like this: https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/underhalla-abacus-multicolor-60506676/

    Cyclop Hyperion Pool Balls

The way I understand it (which means I'm 70% talking out of my ass) is that Cyclop basically rebranded and reinvented itself as Dynasphere. I'm assuming it was to shed itself from the stigma of the problems with the early Cyclop cueballs, and reports of poor QC. If this was indeed the way of it...

2023 AZ Billiards Straight Pool Challenge!

Lol, just realized I didn't report any scores last year. I'll report a 30 from Jan 04 (no video this time) just to make sure I get at least something up for 2023. Hopefully I'll be able to beat my 55 all-time high this year. Haven't had much time for straight lately, but my other games are going...

Anyone else prefer very hard tips??

I make my own "milk dud" style tips from elkmasters. I don't soak them in milk though, I use a mix of 75% water, 25% carpenter glue, and I made a custom press to get them consistent. Very hard, single layer, very consistent, and last 2x as long as any other tip I've used. Been doing this 5 years...

Have you used carbon fiber and went back to wood?

No chance I go back to wood. My Jacoby black plays essentially identically to the lucasi slim ld shaft that I came from, except it's much smoother. That and the fact that about once an hour, when I really put a stroke on a ball, I get a really satisfying "pink!" sound from it. Like hitting a...

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

Correct. Incorrect. "The sequence of events as I now understand it is: Bob makes the 4 on a sharp cut, breaks into cluster containing 8 and cueball scratches off of breakout, balls move around as bob turns, 8 goes in unbeknownst to bob. Vic pulls up balls before bob is made aware, both bob and...

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

Naw. No chance Bob realized the 8 went in. Like, zero. I'd literally stake my life on it. The sequence of events as I now understand it is: Bob makes the 4 on a sharp cut, breaks into cluster containing 8 and cueball scratches off of breakout, balls move around as bob turns, 8 goes in...

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

Bob never at any point realized he made the 8. He thought, as I did, that vic mistook the 4 for the 8. Vic brought the balls up before anyone but him knew the 8 had gone down, or at least that is what he claimed to my friend. It's the only explanation that makes all the pieces fit.

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

Yes, but I now understand why Vic was so enraged by it. I'd be pissed too, it totally looks like favoritism, assuming the TD understands my version of events. I've made a public apology to Vic in the FB thread where he cut me up and offered to pay his next entry. I've also linked this thread...

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

lol. Both parties described it as a scratch. Bob: I scratched on the 4. Vic: No, he scratched on the 8! No, he made the 8! That's about as detailed as the description was at the time.
