I know things go up in price over the years, but it was a lot easier to take up a new sport or hobby in the1940's and 1950's for the young. Buy a $20-$50 cue and case and you were ready to play...or play off the wall. Golf...bag of clubs $95. stock car racer...buy car from junkyard + some tires...
