What is the One Major Player Flaw You See Most Often At The Pool Hall

I'd take that a step farther and say an obsession with spin in general. Speed alone is much less difficult to control than speed AND spin. It's also much less difficult to pocket balls with less spin. While it is really fun to see the cue ball zing off the cushion, it's way more fun to...

    Help identifying cue

Hell, $2k is still a pretty good chunk of change for what's effectively a production cue. But, to be fair, it is a pretty damn nice production cue with great market recognition. So if one were to try to sell it, more people are going to know about Predator than a Szamboti or Ginacue. Similar...

It may very well have been from the 70's or early 80's. The room's owner's father owned Forest Park Billiards in Dayton Ohio where they used to hold The Dayton Open (Earl's first big tournament win happened there.) Very likely it came out of there. I've worn Google out trying to find a copy...

    Help identifying cue

After looking at this on my home monitor with better color than my work monitor, I'd say with about as much certainty as I can that it's the SE-30. The shorter inlays on the cue in your picture looked black on my work monitor. But now I can see they're actually dark red.

    Help identifying cue

I'd say it's a variant of one of these models I found in the "Retired" section of their site.

    Pool hustler rules poster.

I remember one, and it might be the same one, that hung in my home away from home back in the 90's. It had a drawing/caricature of a guy standing there with a cue and it had something to the effect of "signs someone is a pool hustler." I remember one of them was that the guy would...

Right... But that's just "my cue."

I completely get this. I mean, who doesn't like to try out different cues? It's almost like having a garage full of different vehicles. Each one brings joy in its own way. And I have multiple cues but not because I collect them. I just don't like dealing with selling stuff so they've just...

Brother, you've been around long enough to probably know who I'm talking about. But there was a VERY strong player, I believe, out of Louisville who made a pretty good living by his opponents not taking him seriously. He had a whole thing where he'd do pushups against the table and all kinds...

What's the downside to your opponent not taking you seriously? That's the embodiment of "I don't play very good but I like to gamble" but they're doing the work for you.

Some of your ideas are unique to say the least. And full disclosure, I'm not entirely convinced you aren't here just to drive engagement. Regardless, I'll bite. What exactly would the benefit(s) be of having "pro" and "casual" setups? The only possible positive my admittedly limited...

    High Tech Version of Pool

I'd imagine it will probably have some elements similar to that. But I can't help think the main piece of technology will be this projector system.

    High Tech Version of Pool

Not really. But I sincerely doubt it'll be anything anyone here is interested in. "The venue, which is being backed by investors including the US-based venture capital firm Sharp Alpha Advisors and the Daily Mail investment arm, dmg ventures, uses pool tables, balls and cues from the...

    2025 Southwest Cues

It's fun to try out cues from different makers. Sometimes you pick one up, hit a ball, and it feels more like a wand than a cue. But, and this dead horse has been beaten beyond recognition, a cue's hit is very subjective and personal. I've hit with cues from absolute top tier makers that just...

    2025 Southwest Cues

I'd agree that's a big part of how their list got so long. But, again, it's working for the company so it's not really a problem. Also, based on some things I've read, it sounds like they've adjusted their pricing so flipping won't be nearly as lucrative as it was not so long ago. It's also...

    2025 Southwest Cues

But, Mr. Chicken... I don't like it so there's something wrong with it. All joking aside, I'm right there with you in that I can't figure out what's so hard to understand other than it's not a "typical" business model. And I have to believe that if it wasn't working for Laurie she wouldn't...

    2025 Southwest Cues

It IS weird. It IS silly. But that's part of the beauty. There's a certain mystique that goes along with their cues and a big part of that is their insane waitlist. It's kind of like the nightclub with the huge line outside. Sure they could let more people in. But the line tells everyone...

    2025 Southwest Cues

There's a part of me that gets what you're saying. But I ask you this, what's the difference between people getting on a list to get their cue(s) every year so they can sell them versus a dealer with a storefront or website? Southwest has developed a de facto distribution network of everyday...
