    Need Help With Tournament

Once you hit start, Nomad draws the brackets and puts them into tabs at the top. You should see "Waiting List", "Winners", "Losers", "Timings", etc. The Winners/Losers tabs are for the brackets. Thanks for your interest! Let me know if you have any other questions. -Larry

    Need Help With Tournament

I'll throw my hat into the ring and mention my website for running pool tournaments. It's called nomadpool.com and it is completely FREE. There's a big green button on the front page where you can create and configure your own tournament. You tell it which venue the tournament is running at so...

    Team Tournament tie breaker idea

Scotch quintuples seems like it could be fun. I'd enforce that the order would stay the same as the order of the starters. So you could look at either scoresheet to know who shoots next. I'd also consider using a shot clock if you allow talking, especially if it's more than one game.

Another Tournament with "No Conflict Rules"

Hi Paul, Are your brackets available online anywhere? I looked into them a while back and it looked like they would allow you to use more tables deeper into the tournament at the expense of a more traditional payout structure. Seems like it could be a very useful option for bigger tournaments...

When Will Tournament Directors Enter This Decade

So I figured I'll throw my two cents in on this. I have been running weekly tournaments for a few years now, mostly in the 20-40 player range but some bigger ones as well. Tonight will be my 188th tournament as TD. I wrote and actively maintain a website called NomadPool.com to help make my...

National rating system for pool, similar to the United States Chess Federation

That's called the Elo system and it's the system I used for NomadPool's rankings... http://nomadpool.com/leaderboards/2 *edit* I should mention that the rankings are informational based on past games and not used for handicapping. There are a lot of variations of the Elo system but the way I...

What's the perfect case (Quantity) design?

Best case I've ever bought by far has been a cheap j&j case that I picked up for $40 in Vegas during league nationals. It's a 2x3 case with a long pocket that also holds the ass end of a jump cue in a side zipper which makes it more like a 3x3. The case is so compact that it looks more like a...

How to put on the BIG Local Tournaments?

This helps a ton. I run a weekly tournament using a website that I created which lets players sign up for a free account using a text message. They can then enter my tournament by texting "join tournament larry" ("JT Larry" for short) to the same number and their name will pop into the list of...

Anyone in Mega Bucks? How do you like it?

I somehow ended up on a Facebook forum that has a lot of players from that league in nyc. They seem to like it and there is some concept of a "virtual team" that sounded pretty interesting. You might want to ask around about that. -Larry

How many tables for a tourney ??

I've seen that done and it's always annoying because not only does it waste your time but it's also fairly short sighted on their part. The smart play is to make the tournament run as smoothly as possible so that people have a good time and come back. This allows the tournament to actually...

Someone please settle this for me.

Some tips, especially soft and/or layered can be prone to mushrooming. Breaking with that sort of tip will cause the mushrooming that much quicker. Other than that, I'd say break away! -Larry

8 Ball Puzzle, How would you get out?

Here's a DrawShot of this scenario... On stripes I'd prolly start with the 9 in the top right corner and shape for the 13 in the side. Run it up a tad for the 12 in the same top right corner with enough stroke to get straightish on the 15 without flirting with the 3. On solids I'd be tempted...

Got a tournament win last night!!!!!! But I have a few questions.

There are a few things you can do to keep a tournament going strong. Here's some background and a couple of suggestions... I ran a weekly 10-ball tournament for about a year and the same guy won it well over half the time. It was at a bar with only one table so we did double elimination race...

    league software

Hi Mike, I'm actively working on a solution that would be perfect for this. It has real-time scoring, team/individual stats and leadreboards, scheduling, team management, easy streaming, and more. It's about 90% done already, but I plan on running a small league local to me before opening it...
