I am 6'1" and play with a 31" shaft and a 4" center extension with both my Joss and Lucasi. My break cue just has the 4" extension, but I used aluminum for that to add some extra weight...
Yes, I used that video. The issue is that the areas cut out of the slate for the pockets are quite a bit deeper than the example Diamond, plus they have a significant chamfer on the edge. That, along with two thicknesses of 3/4" plywood under the slate means that the cloth needs to be pulled a...
They are using Let's Encrypt for the certificate, which is nice because they are free, but less nice because you have to update the cert every 90 days. They obviously got out of sync and did the update late...
The tables I've played on with double facings pretty much reject anything that brushes the rail before the pocket. Very difficult to play on... But great to tighten up your game.
I second the suggestion to look at what Bob Keller has been saying. He is currently using a custom cue where the butt "half" is actually two pieces, giving him the weight and balance he was looking for. I use a 4" center extension plus a 32" shaft and no weight bolts on my two players. They come...
Currently I have most all the staples out and am trying to figure out your procedure. It's complicated slightly because I have cut the fabric on one side pocket, which is where I found I couldn't stretch it enough to get a staple to hold. I've just made the vertical cuts in the cloth, but that...
OK, here are the pockets:
Ignore the padding... I assume I should be measuring from below the bezel and pulling the cloth to match that measurement again, below the bezel. I'll give 13/16 a try again with this anchor side and finish up that side, then move to the other side, do 3/8 and a 1.5...
Ok, I'll be pulling it back apart tonight and tomorrow. The side pockets are way too tight as they sit, I am unable to even get close to pulling the cloth in enough. Even if I try to staple in the center the staples just pull back out due to the tension. I wonder if the cutouts for the pockets...
I've got Simonis 860HR that I've start to install on this table, and I believe I've stretched it correctly. I am seeing what seems to be the right amount of 'pouch' for the side pockets, but the corners are a little tighter than I expected. Did I miss a step, or are they this taut normally.
It shouldn't make much difference as far as I can determine. The cloth will have a droop over the packet that will mostly stretch out when putting the rest of the cloth on. The 13/16 and 5/8 is the amount that isn't stretched, which is really based on a percentage of the rest of the side cloth...
I think the original post was making the guess that the available K66 cushions might have new technology that wasn't previously available. Or are people still recommending the same material, such as Artemis and Diamond... So, not the profile, but the results. Better action maybe?
I believe those longer bolts were just installed loosely when I went to take it apart for the trip home. Luckily there is no indication they were tightened enough to start splitting the rails, but they were certainly there. The shorter ones are 5/16x1-1/4 inches, and they are available at my...
So it shouldn't be long enough to go completely through the "nut" portion of the mount? That's a good 1/2" thick... I can seat the bolts fully with the shorter ones, so I've been working under the assumption they were correct originally and the longer ones were added in error later.
BTW, I have...
Here we go, the first image is from a corner pocket, showing where the bolt screws in.
The second image is a side pocket attached to the rails, but upside down.
The longer bolts, at least for that side pocket, bottom out before tightening.
I'm still gradually cranking away on the Pat Sheehan table I picked up a while ago. I'm at the point where I need to affix the extensions to the rails in order the set the pocket width, and for the center pockets I need to trim the extensions to match the pockets themselves. The corners don't...
I'm not a cue maker either, though I've been in the process of turning into a hobbyist cue make for a while now. I also have been into old Honda motorcycles for more years than I care to remember. The issue with trying an impact driver on a cue that is different than on a MC is that the bolt is...
