I couldn't stand to watch it either. What I don't understand is why any player would slow down that much. I know if I took 6 minutes before each shot I would be so out of stroke I wouldn't be able to make a ball. Used to be people would try to "ice" their opponent by keeping them in the chair...

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Seriously through it could also be a tip issue. Sometimes if a tip is coming "unglued" or even delaminating it can make a similar sound. I would have a repairman check it out before assuming its the ferrule.

I know a member with the username DBK used to make them. I believe he is a cue maker from Russia. A lot of Russian Pyramid cues that I've seen have the butterfly shafts.
