    Politics in a billiards forum?

When you see someone in there 20's on down looking at their phone.....there is a good chance they are not looking at old school msg boards. Many of those in their 30's and 40's have migrated to FB as well. Did you answer the question below yet?

    Politics in a billiards forum?

No clue.....I'm not active on FB. But regardless.....you think that is happening on AZB? Relegating politics to one of multiple subforums is "openly abandoning the hobby to argue politics"? Once again.....there has been a broad movement from traditional msg boards to social media. You would...

    Politics in a billiards forum?

That has been happening across the board. I have been a member of many automotive forums that were absolutely booming in the 2000's and are now mostly ghost towns. There has been a shift in traffic from traditional message boards to facebook groups and the like. The landscape has definetly...

    Politics in a billiards forum?

Yep...... simple concept....if you don't want politics mixed into your forum browsing experience...don't click on the NPR subforum.

    Politics in a billiards forum?

Who vacated? There have been a handful of members who have been banned or seemingly stopped posting because of drama in NPR....but their content was mainly limited to NPR anyway.

    Moderation Change and Rules Clarification

We are indeed like guests in his home. Unfortunately some of the guests "drop trow" and take a dump in the middle of Mike's living room.

    Moderation Change and Rules Clarification

Yes.....those types of replies are your natural response to someone arguing based on facts and reason. You always show your true colors.

    Moderation Change and Rules Clarification

Someone seems confused on the "Be respectful" portion of the rules. It may be helpful to share some examples of comments posted recently that are anything but respectful: "You are really pathetic mate." "You are delusional and ignorant" "You really are a waste of time." "ha ha, you really...

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

CF shafts weren't on the market when the pros were coming up in the ranks. If we take another look 10 years from now at the top players in their late 20's and younger who have had CF technology available to them while building their game......you are going to see almost exclusive use of CF...

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

I don't disagree. I mentioned laminated wood shafts because the vast majority of wood LD shafts happen to be laminated.

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

My comment was more around the kid still learning how to hold his cue.....whether he is using a maple shaft or CF is not really going to matter at that point. But yes, if getting serious enough about the game that you are investing hundreds or thousands of hours into practice.....an LD shaft...

Carbon Fiber Shafts should be Banned

For a player new to the game, a maple shaft is just fine. As they advance.....if still financially constrained, they can pick up a used laminated wood shaft for a good price that will give them most of the benefits of a CF shaft.

    Funny observation about league players

Is there a more important bodily function? Here's to hoping Cowboy gets on the "long", "hard" road to recovery.

    Longgggg posts..................

Depends on the author......if it's Jay Helfert writing about the pool scene in southern CA in the 70's and 80's.....I'll clear my schedule and read for hours....hanging on every word. Same with pretty much anything from Dr Dave. If it's one of the well known AZB trolls, I won't make it one...

Poll: What do you enjoy most about reading/posting on AzBilliards?

I'm a sucker for nostalgia...... Many members here are well into their 70's and 80's and were very active in the pool scene back in the day. I love the fact that I can read first hand accounts on the environment of the local pool room back in the day, big money matches, notable players coming...

Is there a "smart" cue ball yet?

I do. I've always thought it would be useful to know spatial relationships between the cue ball object ball, and pocket while shooting pool. In other words GPS type data but on a smaller scale. This would provide extremely valuable info on ball pocketing accuracy and precision (do I tend to...

June 15th ......Gov. Newsom Is Reopening California 100% (with mask mandate)

Seeing posts like this makes me thankful for living in a non-communist state. Early on, there were some local, city council imposed restrictions on business that lasted a couple of months......but for the most part, Covid has had no impact on my choice to shoot pool (leagues, tournaments, with...
