Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

Pricing of cues and what you’ll pay for them is dependent on how badly the individual wants it and if he can afford it. Last I knew Southwest had a 12 year waiting list. , Bender, Tasc, Searing, all long

I sent the wood to him, we discussed the specs and looking forward to receiving the cue once completed. I must state Mikes cues are consistent in playability. This is one of his I had.

Does it seem like everyone is a Flipper / Reseller these days?

I won’t say that I bought a Gus Szamboti cue for $1200.00 dollars my Dad thought I was crazy. Played it for 18 years sold it for $7000.00. Had Barry build me a cue bought it for $2000.00 sold it for $3500.00. Searing built me a cue for about $2500.00 sold it for $6000.00. I’ve never lost $$$ on...

    30-inch, or 29-inch shaft?

I didn’t read all the reply’s, but I believe the cue length mainly has to do with the size of the table you mainly play on. Personally I think if you play well you can adjust but if you play on a 7 ft bar table you don’t need a longer cue but if you play on a nine footer the length helps.

I took a shot in the dark wanting a cue built but not wishing to wait 2-7 years to get it as I am of an age I may not last that long. Steve Dunkel

About ten years ago Steve built me a cue with a leather wrap, at the time he told me it was the best leather wrap he’d done!!’ To this day it’s almost impossible to distinguish the marriage of the wrap and it’s not a closet cue!!!

Who makes the best wooden shafts?

I can’t say BEST but Steve Dunkel made me one of his low deflection shafts when he built my cue. I lent my cue to a buddy a AAA player and he ran a nine ball rack with it and was and still is impressed with it he normally plays a Diviny

    Wood

My opinion on butt woods is to use tone woods, ebony, African black wood ( Jamaican cocus, if you can find it, Pernambuco). Iam no expert but in my mind woods that provide tone quality are preferred over asetic qualities. I have one of two Jamican Cocus wood cues I know of one built by Dennis...
