    Recommendations appreciated. Thanks.

    Yes it is.

    Cracked Hoppe Ring

Thanks. It's a Scruggs cue. I'll probably just let it go--I use the cue as a player, not a collector--but was curious about how difficult replacement of the ring would be.

    Cracked Hoppe Ring

I have a Hoppe-style cue from a very well known maker and the ivory ring has cracked. Is replacing it a major deal? Thanks.

    travelling to Vegas this weekend

Should add that neither is close to Mandalay Bay, and if you're cabbing getting a cab back can be a problem. No places near Mandalay Bay that I know of.

    travelling to Vegas this weekend

I agree, it's either Pool Sharks or the Cue Club. I prefer Pool Sharks, but the Cue Club is open 24/7.

    ISO Good Towels

I'm looking for good-quality plain white or solid colored towels with a fixture that allows easy attachment/detachment from the rings on a case. Thanks.

    Merry Widow Cue

I'm not sure it has a fixed meaning. I've seen it used to describe a cue that has points, inlays, or whatever on either the buttsleeve or the nose, but not both, but I've also seen cues that I would have called "plain janes" (no inlays or points anywhere, but with a linen or leather wrap)...

Who's cue would you buy first? Nitti, Weston, Gilbert, Arial Carmel?

Chris has always made great playing cues, but in the last couple of years his fancy cues have just got better and better.

    'Sweet' by Heather Byer

I enjoyed it, but it's not about the technical aspects of pool or league play, and isn't intended to be. I think she writes really well.

    Keeping new balls like new

Invest in a ball cleaner--Ballstar, Bludworth, Diamond, Porper, whatever. It's worth it.

    Las Vegas Cue Club

Thanks for the suggestions. I may try the pawn shop route. I did play at Pool Sharks several years ago, but as I recall the tables were in lousy shape. (Or maybe they steered me to a bangers' table since I didn't have a cue with me. Took me awhile to learn about that.)

    Las Vegas Cue Club

Thanks. I was there 3 or 4 years ago, but heard that it had since closed.

    Las Vegas Cue Club

Thanks; that's what I figured. I wish more rooms would have decent cues available for rent the way ABC in New York does.

    Las Vegas Cue Club

I'm going to be in Vegas for several days starting on Sat., and plan to get to the Cue Club. It simply isn't practical to take a cue with me, and as I recall from prior visits the house cues are typically crappy. I don't suppose they have better cues squirreled away somewhere? Thanks.

Mike Gartland : Members beware !!!

Really hurtful, but I'll refrain from telling any cuemaker jokes.

Mike Gartland : Members beware !!!

Mike is great to do business with--especially remarkable for a lawyer (and since I are one, I should know).

    Pads for Ivory Ferrules

I've been told that pads are unnecessary w/layered tips since they provide sufficient "shock-proofing" by themselves. Correct? Thanks.

    Josswest Resale Values

I've read several times that Josswest resale values are declining. Does anyone know why that's happening? Thanks.
