Breathing and breath control during the shot cycle.

I have been experimenting with my breathing cycle during my stroke. Observing the effects breathing in or out at certain times in my stroke. Trying to discover consistency in energy in pressure performance. I was wondering if top pros share common traits in breathing patterns? Is the breath...

    Trouble Breaking 9-ball (Slug Racks)

Slug rack For 9 ball, check to see if the 2 balls behind the 1 are frozen to the 9 ball. If not, this is a slug rack. For 10 ball check that the back row is frozen to get the two balls behind the one going to the side pockets. Contrary to popular thinking, frozen balls toward the back of the...

    Bank pool... Systems or Rote?

I was just enjoying watching SVB and Thorpe in the 2019 US Open Bank Pool Championships and was wondering, are most pros using a system when banking or just rote experience when playing banks. They just seem to get up an fire them in with out much thought. I know several systems like using the...

    Frustration with live steams...

I agree, all my friends say the same. We want to watch but how many have time to sit and watch the whole thing. Many of us are playing on the weekends in tournaments. I just seems like miss opportunities for promoters. More of the folks I talk to would rather watch after when they have time sit...

    Frustration with live steams...

I love all these streamed challenge matches going on. They are great for our sport. However, I often cannot watch many, like the SVB/Orcollo match because I am often playing in tournaments when they are streamed on weekends. My frustration is it seems once they are live streamed they cannot be...

what is Shanes aiming system called?

This is a powerful way of aiming. I use the inside of my tip/shaft and point it at the contact point. You can really fine tune to hit parts of the pocket with this. Very accurate. I used to be an ghost ball aimer but this is so much more accurate. I just wish I learned this a long time ago...

    My Touch of Inside Experience

Any english picked up by TOI of canceled out by the friction between the OB and CB. This provides a neutral cue ball that is predictable. Its is strange but I can use quite a bit of TOI(max 1/2 tip) and get the angle off the CB to be the same as using center. Even when I get down with extra TOI...

    My Touch of Inside Experience

Yes! All alignment and aiming is done in the stance.

    My Touch of Inside Experience

Now that I really have this dialed, I just come down and aim sight with the edge of my shaft at the contact point. I shoot thick and the TOI finishes the cut to center. It has given me a new and powerful consistent reference point. Aiming is automatic now. Just point and shoot.

    My Touch of Inside Experience

I am a life long learner. I feel once a person stops looking further for new things its over. Originally, I was intrigued by someone, who was one most feared player of his time, sharing his knowledge. I wanted to know more. Learning about and going through the trial and error process of...

    My Touch of Inside Experience

To answer question #1, I come down with part of the shaft (inside edge for me) towards the contact point, then move to the inside (the TOI position). Moving into the inside happens automatically as I am coming down, but my shaft edge remains towards the contact point. To answer question #2 I...

    My Touch of Inside Experience

The speed of the stroke remains consistent. "Bunt" for me means short contact time with the cue ball with a short pop stroke.

    My Touch of Inside Experience

This is true with TOI. You need have to put some speed on the stoke to get the deflection. It happens in the wrist flick. CJ and Shane told me the game is played in the wrist not the arm. I use CJ's hammer stroke to achieve this. At first I though, how do I adjust for speed control if I'm...

    My Touch of Inside Experience

I spent 20 years trying to perfect center ball and played very well, but a special connection to the shot seems to happen with TOI. This sent me to the next level.

    My Touch of Inside Experience

After reading StraightPool 99’s post on TOI I thought I would share my experience using CJ’s Touch Of Inside (TOI). I have had the opportunity to see CJ a few years back and the things he has thought me has brought me to playing the best pool of my life after 25+ years of playing pool. Of course...
