what not to do as a newb cue builder

That's probably 'cause you got brains. You gotta have both. I have guys with 10+ yr experience in my industry (far from cue making) that are just plain dumb. They only know how to do things the way they've done it before, don't really understand why they do it that way, what alternative...

New Taig based Carriage and Headstock

Amsterdam is NOT like that ... at least not when I lived there 1997 for over a year on a project. They have "tolerance" that WE Americans can learn a lot from, IMHO. Locals/Dutch I met through work were typical people who worked hard (8 hrs a day) and then went home to their family. Now I'm...

TAR 22: Earl Strickland vs Shane Van Boening. December 2,3,4 in the TAR Studio

I like it as it's a change in pace from race to 100 format. One of these days, I hope to see "tennis" format ... race to xx games, 5 sets win a set by x games. Hoping for a chance to see pool version of Isner vs Mahut @ The Wimbledon that went 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (3), 70-68.

Opinions of Instroke Leather 4x8 Soft Case

Some Instroke case have jump butt pocket on the side and some do not. As far as elastic, there are no pockets. Just elastic bands holding down the butt and shafts. The board that holds the elastic bands are held in the case by velcro straps. I had J Barton make pockets with velcro straps ...

    <O><O>Brand New King Case BEAUTIFUL!<O><O>

What is the weight of the case empty? Do tubes come out? I like the overall design of the case .. especially strap on the back design. I wonder if the bottom of the case has any additional support inside? Who designed the images on the case and what are they?

    Curious about bartering

Eric, who knows ... you might inspire your IT guy (whatever that means) to buy a bunch lathes, get it dialed down to .000000001, buy a bunch of Brazilian Rosewood and start making cues. Hidy "not IT" Ho

I think I've replied to you before but if you have interest in the cue let me know. Sugartree or Gilbert

I got both (not currently for sale) :D I was not a fan of Gilbert cue until I got a fancy one and it plays GREAT. Eric's cues play great and very consistent in hit and I like his new taper. I think Gilbert cues are a bit easier to find in secondary market although I see more ST cues popping...

    L/f **** tad 8 pointer ****

Are you set on SS joint? I have same cue with big pin (3/8x12) and "micarta" joint. Cue is in great shape but the finish is a bit yellow and flaking off the buttcap (typical Tad issue).
