    What's your APA 8-ball rank?

    6 in 8 ball and a 9 in 9ball.

    Apa ?.........

A 9 has to be very patient and be willing to sit and coach most of the time. I am ranked as a 9 in APA 9 ball and gave up on that league a couple of years ago. ` I will admit my blood pressure is a Lot lower now on Wend. nights....

APA 9 Ball Players...What's your handicap

I have not played APA in several years. However, my 9 ball ranking at the time I quit was 9.

    Old Ball Sets

Is there any market for old ball sets? I have a coworker who obtained around 25 old balls via an estate. Not sure at this time if they are ivory, clay or celluloid. There was however one of the balls that is a striped 16 ball? My buddy is bringing them into work tomorrow and will post...

    Sandbaggers on APA Regionals

APA and Sandbagging I played APA from 1992 till 2006 at which time my team decided to give it up. Too tired of the politics and having to spend entire weekends in much less than desirable bars playing in Tri-Cups or City tourneys. There are a LOT of players that do not sandbag in that league...

How do you view the CPA/APA/JPA?? What is it like for you?

I am not sure what area APA LO runs but it sounds like he pays out a bunch more than what the APA operator pays out in the area I live in. For this, his players should be thankfull. However, speaking from personal experience, an APA team who has won a trip out of our local league can only...

How do you view the CPA/APA/JPA?? What is it like for you?

I agree on the point that the leagues have to make some money to keep solvent. If they did not make any money they could not keep operating. However, in my opinion, VNEA and BCA are a much better deal than APA. In my area only 5 teams out out of 180+ APA 8ball teams get a chance to go to...

    Bar Box Cues...

If I am playing on a bar box with a mud ball. I use a OB-1 on a Toe-Boy SP. The shaft seems to let me put more juice on the heavy ball. If I am playing on a bar box with a cat-eye or aramith coin op I use the same cue but put a Tiger X-Shaft on it. The OB-1 has a Talisman and the X shaft has a...

APA League Play - What's Your Opinion?

One Question? Are you SURE that the rest of the remaining 23 dollars goes to St Louis? Or, is that what your league operator told you? Does anyone on the board know what St Louis gets per match from the league dues? The reason I am asking these questions is to get you to look into it a bit...

    League Players

I play on two leagues. One is a travelling VNEA league and the other is an in house BCA league. On the Valley league, all of the locations provide one comp. round of drinks for the teams playing. When we are playing at our home bar the owner also throws in a roll of quarters for the tables for...

    Shooting pool at college

You can still play a lot of pool and still go to college and get out with good grades and a good game. I earned a bachelors and a masters in Engineering and neither suffered. As many other posters have already stated, it is all in how you schedule your time. What you will have to avoid is...

What do you think is the best league out there?

It may have a lot to do with who and how the local league is run. But, my preference is BCA followed by VNEA and then APA. In my opinion, BCA and VNEA generally have a higher level of competition and a LOT less politics mainly due to the handicap system. If you get two APA players together, you...

    League Question (kind of long)

Who to Play I agree with the other posters. You need to call a team meeting to discuss and come up with a system/schedule of who plays. Here is a system used on one of the teams that I play on. We run a 7 man rotation with 5 players playing each week. During our matches we keep track on...

Schon: How do YOU like them?

R1- Love it. My current main player is a older Schon R-1. I my opinion, you would be hard pressed to find a better playing cue if a SS joint is what you like.

    APA Franchise.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. When I meant "send" a team. Those teams received money to pay for the trip to Nationals along with the league paying thier entry fee. You are correct in that APA teams have to qualify for nationals. Unfortunantly, a large majority of the APA teams...

    APA Franchise.

Thoughts on various leagues I normally do not post much but thought I would put in my opinion on leagues. I have played in APA, TAP, BCA and VNEA. Currently, I am only playing in BCA and VNEA. IMHO, APA and TAP are great leagues to start off playing in because of the handicap systems. They...

    Smoking ban in Houston.

[All Fast Eddie's- FM 1960 and Fuqua are both on the Olhausen/Fast Eddie's Texas Tour. Now that I think about it, the only high profile pool hall around Houston that won't be affected is Legend's in League City (home to the Houston Open). There are some Slick Willie's and Barney's locations...

    how good are jacoby cues?

:) IMHO, Jacoby cues are currently one of the best values in cues. I own one of his plainer cues and use it when playing in local bar-box tourney's (where I do not feel like bringing in a more expensive cue). Have been using this cue for about 2 years and have had no problems whatsoever.
