    Used CNC on ebay

That should make a good machine. First thing I would do is change the control box out for a gecko G540 box. Maybe a smoothstepper ESS. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes it can be. This is not done often as it way under utilizes the mill. Also it is just cheaper to build or buy a smaller one. Jim.

    Bye Bye Scroll Chuck

I would rotate the jaws for more surface area to chuck on. That would require less pressure to clamp.

    Mach3 & Windows 7

The smoothstepper replaces your printer port. It is emulating 3 printer ports for that matter. You will still need some sort of drive for your motors. It will send step and direction to the drives. Jim .

    Mach3 & Windows 7

It is certainly possible to run Mach3 with a laptop. Just not advised. The reason is the 5v power supply on a laptop maybe week. Another side effect will be missed steps at rapid movements. As far as windows 7 it maybe a crap shoot. I have always just used XP to avoid this issues. I know of at...

    Mach3 & Windows 7

First question. Are you still using a laptop? Second do you have a real printer port or a USB converter? Either situation is no good for Mach 3. The smoothstepper would be a good solution but the Ethernet version only as the USB version is prone to noise issues. I prefer windows Xp however it...

    lathe question

It really comes down to space and money. Unique is great for low funds and or space. Of course it also depends on what kind of work you are wanting to do. Jim

    BobCad 4th Axis.

Bobcad has been able to do 4th axis since V22. Now that is not full 4th. It is axes substitution. I am not going into that subject now. If you understand the difference then it is time to ask. V25 or V26 is when Bobcad started to offer full 4th axis machining. This is an expensive option. For...
