Do you know of players who had such Natural Talent, that they could have been a World Champion?

World champ is a high bar. Guys with the arm talent to get there are a dime a dozen compared to the ones who have the mentality, dedication, and fire. Everybody knows someone who can get around a table beautifully. But to grind hard enough to win out against the guys at the top who are...

Straight vertical pre-stroke but tucking wrist (elbow) to the left when shooting.

Sounds like a good plan. The easy ball misses like the second shot in the video should disappear in a hurry.

Straight vertical pre-stroke but tucking wrist (elbow) to the left when shooting.

Are u sure it is a perception thing and not a stroke straightness thing? The reason I ask is that when the arm is on an island away from the body like you have yours, the tendency is for the arm to drop in towards the body, which causes the tip to hit right of where it is aligned to. Your...

Think I need to change my break

Nah, nor really. The bend really comes from a loop bridge trapping the shaft low and a raising up of the body and grip hand in the follow through. You can be as loose as you can get and still keep the cue in your hand and it will bend the shaft with that type of get up move. Busty gets a...

    Rasson table for World Championships........................

Forgive me if I don't hold my breath for a 'made in China' product to be the 'best ever made'.

Break (movie) - how is it?

As someone who enjoys PHJ from time to time, I gotta say that this looks really really bad.... so I guess I'll only watch it once :p

Any BOWLLIARDS / BOWLING game fans out there?

Ewa Mataya Lawrence advocated for this type of bowliards...at least that's who I heard of the game from many years ago. 9 ball rack, BiH after the break. runout is a strike, early 9 in a 9-spare. I think 2nd attempt also starts with BiH. That's the one I played.

    Anyone ever get the YIPS?

Yips is an overused term and there are levels to this. In golf, a lot of 'yip' issues are tied to slack somewhere along the kinetic chain. The slack spot prevents seamless energy transfer and needs to be compensated for by some sort of tightening or jerky reacceleration after the initial...

    2024 World Pool Championship

ye that looks loose af. but the two that bothered me in the melling gorst match were both open table, hit the inside facing at speed, and rattled out. that shouldn't happen.

    2024 World Pool Championship

4inches is tight af. 4.25 is plenty tight enough for pool to stay pool. Shots like Gorst's 7ball should drop. Melling's similar shot also irked me when it weirdly rattled. Sure it's good for match drama, but these are too tight imo. Plus these are on TV tables which play looser. The...

    2024 World Pool Championship

ye they usually strong. sucks for Poles they have to play each other in the quarters. Worked out nice for Pinoys tho with 3 in the final 8 and none play each other.

    2024 World Pool Championship

9-9. This is the first full match I've watched at these championships and can't get over how terrible these tiny pockets are. Both Melling and Gorst missed balls that would/should go in on any pool table. One of them was Gorst's 7ball that would have put him up 10-5. Instead 9-6 and...

    Anyone wear wrist straps?

I dunno how this is legal but a similar thread popped up a while back and guys actually play with wrist straps like these or the ones for bowling. Straight up cheating imo. As a training aid, fine, maybe. But to compete with? Nah. gtfoh

Right english results on the oldest pool drill

Im actually a fan of this approach. Kinda like 'playing your shape' on the golf course. There is a time to overhaul things, knowing it will take time and effort, and there is a time to adjust to what you got. The nice thing about the 'finding center' drill I mentioned above is that it will...

Right english results on the oldest pool drill

You need to get looked at by an instructor. I've had this issue twice for two different reasons. One time I was just misperceiving center with a straight stroke. Easy fix (even if you don't mess with vision center stuff)... hit the CB along headstring and intentionally apply a little left...

    Auto Grip Experiment

Interesting experiment. Not all strokes/deliveries would want the two fingers to work as one tho so kind of a niche market.

    Auto Grip Experiment

I agree. But then there's guys playing in full on bowling wrist braces.

The best stroke/cue action you have seen

All strokes finish. Even those with elbow drops. Focusing on your finish and letting the stroke complete is good advice for all techniques.
