    Prize money

Golf is not a great sport to watch in person if you want to follow the action. TV presents the tournament situation and drama better. That said, there are things you can see in person that are interesting. I like watching pros practice. The new stuff the tour does for fan experience is good...

    Prize money

True. They also have Rolex v Omega and Mercedes v Lexus sponsor battles. Today was the Valspar. I dunno the paint biz, but I bet Valspar got a lot of benefit out of inviting customers/ guests to the pro am and tournament. I don’t know the farm equipment biz either, but I heard about a farmer...

    Prize money

Yes and no. Yes if you could be in the top couple of hundred golfers. But it is not likely that you - by that I mean people generally- would be in that top couple of hundred. If you started by the age of 7 in Texas, Florida, or California and had full access to the game and instruction. So...

    Three Rails Around Question

Your table plays pretty short it looks like. But I’d fool around with the speed and spin. If you are hitting it too hard with to little spin etc…. But it looks like a really short table.

    I love 9-ball but...

Yeah maybe. Ultimate Pool maybe onto something. A regionalized team component could add something. Oklahoma v Minnesota v Texas etc..

    I love 9-ball but...

I don’t think changing games or rules will bring in viewers. Changing how the game is shown MIGHT. I don’t know how that could be done. In golf it was sending the leaders out last (that didn’t happen pre-TV.). In poker it was the hole card cam. I don’t know what that is as far as pool goes...

    I love 9-ball but...

And that’s why Charlie Bryant and Larry Nevel never lost a tournament. And Efren never won one with his break. Oh, wait…. Yeah I’m being sarcastic. Somehow someway the best keep winning in the flawed game.

    I love 9-ball but...

Pros should probably play one pocket because it tests all of the skills except for a steady diet of masses that probably only the traditional disciplines in carom require. That or they can play nine ball. I just don’t agree at all with the argument that 9 ball is too easy. It just isn’t.

    Gold Crown VII

The pics of the tight pockets looked odd to me. Just like regular shims- maybe overdone. Maybe the 4.5 look more normal, I dunno. Maybe just the video. I like Brunswicks. Had occasion this week to play at the Cue Ball in Salem OR. Great playing old Brunswicks. Good cloth, rubber was good...

    Rasson K55 Unique feature

I have played on the Victory. I like it. For those with more experience on the Rassons, how does the Acurra compare to the Victory/Ox? From what I can discern the difference is in leveling points and cushions. Thinking of getting one, and wonder how much difference as far as playability and...

    US Open 1pocket pathetic turnout....????

I heard a little of your commentary and guys were talking about it at the pool hall. I like Collins’ streams and what he does. You were a great addition to the booth and managed to fit in with the non traditional announcing. Obviously you have done a ton of it, but Collins does it a little...

    US Open 1pocket pathetic turnout....????

Summer of ‘92 I had a summer job in Las Vegas. Had the opportunity to go back when done with school. I chose not to. I liked how there was opportunity if you got established there. I don’t have the habits that get people sent home fast you discussed. But I decided not to live there when I...

What's going on with pool equipment?

In that entry level spot, yeah I see what you are saying. I don’t love the import lines that have taken that role at McDermott and Viking. Joss for $267 is a great deal. But to get in to a more modern lower deflection shaft, American made, you are looking more in the 4-500 range at Meucci...

What's going on with pool equipment?

IMO Meucci is on the right track. They are sponsoring players and producing modern cues, some with throwback designs. Not everyone loves them, but my opinion is that they have improved on the quality and service front. I see tons of their cues from 800-1200 or so that I think can give the 7 to...

    Did I just witness History?

I’m not a motor sports guy. But I think Mario Andretti winning a Formula 1 title and multiple races to go with NASCAR and Indy Racing has to rank higher than winning a drag race. But, it’s a cool feat and he likes pool so…

Anyone bring their own chairs to the pool hall?

I would kick that guy out quicker than the chair guys I must say. Here’s a warning, a free glove, and a vacuum to clean up the mess you have caused already. 😜 I carry too much stuff and half wish we’d go back to no break or jump cues so I could have a 1x2 and a piece of chalk. I was prepared to...

Pool jerseys are bad, but also not good

When an event is called high class it probably isn’t. Gentlemen don’t take off their jacket to expose their waistcoat at a high class event. The first pro event I went to was in the better have those guys rent a tux era. So you are wearing a dinner jacket before 5:00.(to clarify I was...

    Horizontal Draw

TinMan has a boot camp that does it. Just sayin’ since he posted in the thread. Not that the Sharivari video is wrong - it isn’t.

Pool jerseys are bad, but also not good

I am a big opponent of those as pool attire. And careful before the English people inserting horrible terms into the pool lexicon -“potting” “break off” etc… laugh at you for using the American word. 😉

    Savannah's home table?

True. But SJMs points are good ones. Women develop and peak quicker and earlier than men in sports. They don’t tend to last as long either. Dunno why, just saying I’ve seen the golfers and tennis players come and go. Maybe she’ll be different. There doesn’t seem to be a reason why she can’t...
