    McCready bingeing!

Exactly. The tight pocket proponents need to understand that it makes for a less interesting spectator event. It is a better test at the highest levels, fine. watching 10 ball with WPA rules on tight equipment is purgatory. You know you will get to see something better someday and the match...

    (Un)Popular Opinion on Fargo Rate

Yeah, the one that shocked me was the test where they put impact tape on putter faces of tour players vs scratch golfers. Impact dispersion was significant- seemed like slug vs buckshot. How do you train that fine a skill? Really good players aren’t having seizures when they putt. But the tour...

If you could build your dream room that actually has a chance to stay in business…

The other day I was happy to see 4 young women come in to the pool hall, get a 9’ Diamond and 4 shots of Fireball to start. Seeing a fair number of college age women come in. Drinking and a fun atmosphere brings them in. Hopefully some catch the pool bug. But then from 30 to 55…life...

    Shark Out of Water

This one is second hand, but from a witness. Waterdog was in Denver, Aurora actually. At a room near the Air Force Base. An Air Force guy set up a straight pool game. 50 points for $1 per point. He got out to a small lead, like 3-0. Went to the desk bragging how he trapped that junkie over...

    Shark Out of Water

Makes sense. The USGA wasn’t disconnected. Even though the thing was started at places like Newport and Shinnecock, it grew substantially. Oh, and the USGA site says handicapping got started in the fall of 1911 when a member of the Executive Committee brought his ideas and system ( which he...

    Shark Out of Water

Interesting point. As I understand the BCA or whatever it was called then, it was all industry and mostly Brunswick. USGA started by wealthy clubs and focused on amateur game. Take a private club with billiards, say the New York Athletic Club. A club like that wasn’t involved with governing...

    (Un)Popular Opinion on Fargo Rate

There is no stroke play in pool So the system can’t be that similar. This gets discussed sometimes and pool is just different. You don’t play multiple sessions of 18 racks of equal offense on different tables with ratings and slope and get an index. It wouldn’t work really. The Fargorate fair...

Casino daily take during pool tourn.....??

I googled it after your post. They do have a monthly report online at the Indiana Gaming Commission. December’24 is the latest. I’m not going to go try to analyze the monthly figures. But someone who cares to do so can. 😉

Casino daily take during pool tourn.....??

What was the saying in LV? They bring a shirt and a $20 bill and don’t change either one during the CES. 😝

    Realistic Payout

I am totally for entering as dead money. But I don’t worry how a player of a given Fargo will do. I entered a regional event last year. Guess what? Top 3 FargoRate players were 1-2-3. Dominguez-Foldes-Eberle. So yeah, 600 players could cash. That event wasn’t as big as Derby City.

    Realistic Payout

But in what moderately big open tournaments do 600-700 Fargo players really expect to do very well? Cash maybe, but a high paying finish? I took a look at the Texas Open results from last year. A couple mid 600’s cashed. SVB was 5th. just cashing got you $200. I think the entry was 100.

Past vs present. Your dream matchups.

Another player I’d like to see from back then is James Evans. So Evans v Hohmann at 14.1

Past vs present. Your dream matchups.

Hoppe v Caudron in both 3C and balkline. Both old equipment and new equipment. I would actually like to see Minnesota Fats at his best against Chohan In 1 pkt. Mosconi vs any of the current good 14.1 guys. Hohmann mentioned above is a good choice. And why not. Rogoff vs Bergman bar box...

    cue upgrade?

Schmelke might be an upgrade. Valhalla probably in the same ballpark As the Koda. I think if you spend a bit more you will get something that is made well and maybe feels better. I don’t know how those Kodas play. I hit a few balls with a newer Koda with their upgraded shaft. Hit just fine...

    Raymond Ceulemans items

Yeah, that’s what they look like. I got a used copy of Mr. 100 as a gift and there are a couple of cards, like postcards, with a picture of Ceulemans on the front and an ad on the back. Like furniture store ads. Sort of odd to me, but kind of cool.

    Derby Action

Never have to give a spot. Quit when you want. generally don’t have to woof for a game. I guess in private or cultivated games or whatever they’re called you have to do more image cultivation/sales etc… but I am a legal, public game player only. Not that I play much at all anymore and I’ve...

Keith McCready got money from his dad to play money games against his dad. Unethical?

My father told me “Don’t bet on anything that can talk.” As we were at jai alai at the old MGM in Las Vegas.😝

    Hawaii-Honolulu Pool

Will be there. Needless to say the focus of the trip isn’t pool. But JPB2 don’t surf and I may have some time without activities. I have searched some, but what came up about Hawaiian Brian’s looked like it was more a music or night club. What are the current pool places and hours Etc… thanks
