    McDermott cue question…

A guy at the pool hall picked up an E-Series McDermott and let me hit some balls with it today. It’s a good cue, hits nice. It doesn’t hit like what I remember my ‘80’s Meucci hit like. My new Meucci with the Pro shaft hits more like an old Meucci than the old McDermott does IMO. If you want...

    McDermott cue question…

I don’t think a Predator Z would hit anything like an old Meucci. I can’t say for sure what the regular McDermott shaft would be like. The G Core I have played with and it’s not like an old Meucci. I had a Meucci in the ‘80’s like the poster mentioned. I think the new Meucci pro shaft is good...

New pool room: The Crooked Cue, Colorado Springs, CO

I looked at their website and there were 9’ tables in the pictures there. Not sure how many. Plus the 7’. I’ll be in Denver on a short trip this week but won’t get there. 5% chance of getting to Felt. Probably no pool this time, not bringing a cue etc…. But will probably get back there more...

New pool room: The Crooked Cue, Colorado Springs, CO

Didn’t know Piazza’s had 9’. I was Only there when it was Patrick’s though. That was only like 35 years ago. F*** me I am old. How did that happen.

    McDermott cue question…

I think the McDermotts with the regular shaft, not the G core might be what you want. They aren’t that expensive for a plain one. If you just order new there’s a warranty but I don’t know about ordering the non standard diameter. Well, I know you can do it but don’t know how it would affect...

Strange middle pocket measurements and help needed

That’s not a tip diameter issue. That’s technique- stroke- tip placement. Others can address it better than I if they see what you are doing.

Harold Worst 7 Rail Draw Shot - Fact or Fiction? Can anyone replicate this shot today?

But that’s on a bar table so it’s too easy!!!😜😜😜

Strange middle pocket measurements and help needed

Replace the middle pockets with side pockets. 😉. Sorry, couldn’t resist the switch to American instead of English. Nails are the same in both languages though and aren’t a good mix with pool balls.

Harold Worst 7 Rail Draw Shot - Fact or Fiction? Can anyone replicate this shot today?

I don’t think I’ll go looking for it in Freddy’s books, but givenWorst’s tournament records and how they talk about him I wouldn’t doubt it. Think of guys now with big strokes who have pulled off stroke shots and extreme masses. I mean like Sayginer. Worst’s stroke had to be at that level. So...

My Minnesota Pool Boot Camp Report

I wouldn’t worry too much about timing or weather. I get wanting to go when you will be playing more. The timing worked well for me because I have more time to play now and I worked it into visiting my son. But go when you can IMO.

My Minnesota Pool Boot Camp Report

I had the opportunity to do the Boot Camp in mid-November. It was a great experience and I think it was well worth it. I waited a bit to post a review because I wanted to see how it would change my game after a little bit of time to work on the things we covered and do some of the drills...

Who says barbox 8-ball is harder than 9-foot?

Playing for a beer on a Valley with the big cue ball back in the day. A fine establishment. The guy I was playing said he had no depth perception anymore. You know what a spot looks like when it starts to peel up? Yeah. And you can stick it back down with your hand. Well that is what a glass...

Pool in Europe vs USA: 7-foot vs 9-foot tables

Wikipedia has Mizerak qualifying for the world straight pool championships in 1965 at age 20, where he had wins over Lassiter, Crane, and Balsis. College graduation was in 1967. He did exhibitions at 6 and ran 100 by 13. He didn’t start teaching as the equivalent of a 720 and have evenings and...

Honest question for those that live in Arizona

Southern Idaho is north and far west in the time zone. Summer days are super long. People really like the long days. But I have wondered if I’d really care if it got dark at 9 instead of 10. Dunno. But I am always surprised in Las Vegas that it gets dark so much earlier. Not sure, but if we...

    Are Jump Cues Worth It

I have to disagree here. Not that I think jumping is the primary skill to work on etc…. But as Danny DiLiberto said a gazillion times in commentary, anything is better than ball in hand. I am below 600 and have saved ball in hand and/or games against less than 600 players with the jump cue. I’d...

    Are Jump Cues Worth It

That may be when you don’t need one. I asked a well seasoned money player about being old school and showing up to a tournament with a 1x1 case. He said that’s all you need. Break with your player and if we match up at something other than 1 pocket I just make a no jump cue stipulation. (He won...
