That’s not a tip diameter issue. That’s technique- stroke- tip placement. Others can address it better than I if they see what you are doing.

I wouldn’t worry too much about timing or weather. I get wanting to go when you will be playing more. The timing worked well for me because I have more time to play now and I worked it into visiting my son. But go when you can IMO.
