New shipment of Gabriels Rafale 2.0

I’ll be getting back to Denver more in the near future. I’ll have to pack a carom cue. Look forward to visiting your room.

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

Yeah, this little chip tournament is a pretty good format for a small weekly. It doesn’t have the same person win all the time etc…. Maybe that is a reason the better players can enter.

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

We had a pro in town when the chip tournament started. He wondered about playing. I told him they would let him play with the minimum chip total and he was a favorite with 3 chips. Told him worse players, like 100-150 FargoRate lower have won. I don’t run the tournament or anything. They let...

Do they still let you buy two when your name comes up?

Opinions regarding a former top pro playing in and dominating a Poolroom‘s weekly handicapped tournament?

Two minor ideas. Neither as good as Mike Page’s. I’d ask the guy privately not to play all the time. I’d want him in the tournament actually but not want to burn out the others. When he plays, at least sometimes, I’d put a bounty on him. Beat him with your handicap, get a bounty. If you won’t...

    Are Jump Cues Worth It

I tend to think it is worth it if you ever compete in anything that allows jump cues. My thinking is along these lines. Whether you like it or not jump cues are allowed. If someone has one and you don’t, you are at a disadvantage. The modern game includes jumping. If you can’t jump, you are at a...

Pool in Europe vs USA: 7-foot vs 9-foot tables

I’ve been thinking about your post. What might help in this area that would somehow fit with the American pool culture and the current situation?

Pool in Europe vs USA: 7-foot vs 9-foot tables

When I was a rookie pool player in the ‘80’s, the places where those under 21 could play were all 9’. As we turned 21, bars and leagues and tournaments at bars were available. Now I am not a top player, etc... but what I noticed then was that “bar players” couldn’t practice and couldn’t play...

Pool in Europe vs USA: 7-foot vs 9-foot tables

That’s too bad. The only 2 rooms I have been to in your area are Shooters and CR’s. CR’s has one 9 footer, right? Obviously I expect more interest in 7’ tables etc... but would expect rooms in an area with good interest in pool to have more 9’ interest. I saw when Shooters was selling the...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

My great grandmother was 98 when some doctor at the nursing home said she couldn’t have pie. A family member straightened that out. The doctor probably thought he was right as she only made it to 99.

    Chohan-Bergman Match

Yeah, that is what I remember. I only watched it once, but the kicks surprised and impressed me. IIRC at one point there was banter and DD said something like Yeah, you’ll kick it in.

Who says barbox 8-ball is harder than 9-foot?

I’m not sure. But my question is the same. So what?

Who says barbox 8-ball is harder than 9-foot?

OK. Petri Makkonen is 794. Sounds like you rate yourself below him, but are competitive and can beat him sometimes. So in our simulation we will have you tour the US and play bar table 8 ball against guys around 750 FR, some lower. You will spend some time in the Midwest, TX, OK. Here’s my...

Who says barbox 8-ball is harder than 9-foot?

Yeah, I think the 9’ tables test certain things more and a better overall test. So what? Bar table 8 ball is It’s its own thing. You can say it is “ easy” but so what. Match up against a good bar table player who is pretty equal to you and play. You may find things “easy” in isolation. But get...

Who says barbox 8-ball is harder than 9-foot?

You may have proven it to yourself, but a simulation isn’t proof. SVB, Bergman, Sky, Corey for moderate cash might be a better simulation/ test. This isn’t a knock - you are an excellent player. I didn’t see you in FargoRate, but my guess is after a couple of sessions with good barbox players...

    Mosconi Cup 2024, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, Orlando

Oh I know. He now has access to deep secrets about Viking and Triple Sixty products. Russia can reverse engineer them and get an advantage over us in jump cues. I can’t stand the idea of a jump cue gap. And talk about deep cover. Nobody expects a pool player to be a spy so all the three letter...

    Estate Sale -- Hopedale, Ms

Yeah I agree. The Daytonas go for a ton now don’t they? I kinda like how the square Pulsar with expansion band might go with a D Series and some of the clothes though. 😎

    Vegas info.

Re: El Cortez My wife and I stayed in one of the renovated Original 47 rooms. That was nice, fun, and reasonably priced. Walking around…. I don’t mind either, but one evening we were walking back after dinner at another downtown place. Metro and EMTs/coroners were dealing with a DOA in a...

    Vegas info.

Graveyard steak and eggs specials. Ham steak and eggs 95 cents. Las Vegas was definitely different then. I liked the comp cigarettes at Binions with the Horseshoe sticker. Nobody would comp cigarettes for low limit poker players except Binions.
