Dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in pool!

I don’t disagree and if someone has a good enough relationship with the player that topic could be brought up at the right time in the right way. As we both know some people might bring it up at the wrong time in the wrong way.

If you could build your dream room that actually has a chance to stay in business…

I hate to be pedantic but there are more like 15 shots in a 750. An airline bottle is 50ml. And please don’t pour the good whiskey in a dirty metal measuring thing. 🙃. I know for some expensive stuff they’ll list a 1 oz pour. And yes, I was too embarrassed to buy 15 airline bottles of a brand...

Dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in pool!

Well, for pool to keep up with golf you have to take it one step at a time. 😀 I actually think it is good and would never criticize somebody for spending on fancy equipment or suggest they get better before buying it. The least it does is support the industry. It shows they are willing to...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

Sounds like there were some problems with the AZ system. But for the sake of argument I’ll concede that the old AZ system was more accurate than FargoRate. But your own description of it shows that it isn’t replicable or transferable. How did it rank the CA players? How did it rank the NM...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

The game. Because an accurate rating system allows tournaments to attract players from other areas to come play. Both the tournament organizers and the players know the tournament will have reasonable divisions or handicaps etc… DCC is one event once a year with 400-500 players in each event...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

But you asked it in a way to guarantee responses like the ones you got. Then you got mad. The system is good. There have been threads on it.

And we forgot Mataya. Although his prime was a little earlier.

I might suggest Danny Medina in there somewhere. Mark Tadd for at least a short period too maybe.

    Masters, triangle chalk becoming outdated

I bet they could figure it out. Dunno why they wouldn’t. I think- guess- they made Blue Diamond. Pretty good chalk. Masters and Triangle are good chalks and I prefer them to some of the premium ones. As I said above, Taom got me on cleanliness. If tweeten made a clean chalk for $5-$10 a cube I’d...

Why do players seem to want the same cue, tip, and specs that their favorite player uses?

Yeah, but I think some of the series game guys go a little lighter in the carom cues than the 3C guys. I would say standard pool cue 58” 19 oz, tip 13mm with more people going smaller tip now. 3C 56” 18oz or whatever is close in grams and 12mm.

Why do players seem to want the same cue, tip, and specs that their favorite player uses?

The butt diameter is a little different on the SVB. If that is a big deal to you it could make a difference. I think the little bigger diameter is fine etc… but you might want to compare the feel.

    Matchrooms Concern

I think it may mean the type of thing as when NFL players compliment a player saying he is a Pro. Not all professional football players are pros. A non pro might make more money on aptitude. For a while. Like the stories of NFL quarterbacks who played video games instead of working. Or...

    Chalk on The Rail

Yes, but if I follow him and have to climb on the table too, I don’t want his chalk in my way. Kinda like stepping on kids’ legos in the carpet. 😉

Could you point out what it takes to get a football scholarship so the “ American kids are lazy” idea could be dispelled? I hinted at it saying American kids work hard at what they are interested in but didn’t detail anything. I’ve seen our kids and their friends in high school sports and...

    Matchrooms Concern

Well, this may mean your players don’t have as much desire to improve or compete at a higher level as you think. I am always willing to play a bigger tournament as dead money when they come around and so are other players I know. Not for huge money, but why wouldn’t your players pay 100-200 to...

    Matchrooms Concern

The difference in pay can't be the difference. What I mean is this. The guys winning a big prize in a CSI Fargo capped division still have day jobs. You can't do it for a living. I know there have been posts about guys doing well in fargo capped bar box events. It's the kind of thing that...

    Masters, triangle chalk becoming outdated

I didn’t think I would switch from Triangle to the expensive stuff. But the cleanliness of Taom got me. I do like Triangle tho.

    Matchrooms Concern

Yeah, because the 12 year olds with access to pool tables and training in the US see the bar table and decide to be lazy. Please. You can criticize the lack of a solid federation and player development. Laziness and table size have little to do with it. It really is a lot about access and...

Yes exactly. Thought experiment. Take a large group- pick any number you prefer- and start them playing pool at 11 on bar tables. Give them training and ten years of practice but only on 7’ tables. Then take the same number of players at 21 and start them on whatever you think the perfect 9’...

    Buffalo's Pro Classic 2025

He could become a good 3C player of course. I think any top player at one of the games has something that allows crossing over. But becoming a top player in the world isn’t necessarily there for them. Seeing Ronnie O Sullivan try billiards on that show was interesting, and I’m sure he’d be...
