    Open v.s. Pro ?

And that's my feeling is that having staged entry fees is generally to the advantage of better players. Lesser players get money odds, but I doubt anyone like say Bartrum would mind giving a B/C/D player 2 to 1 on their money playing all day long everyday for the rest of his life. I think for...

    Open v.s. Pro ?

B and below players have 0% chance to win and a very low chance to cash in local tourneys here. They are purely donating and increase the payout. A players and up are debatable.

    Trying to go Pro.

I've seen guys come up fast - 100 ball runners and delivering sizable packages within 2 years. Years later they're shortstops, if that. I had a higher run in 10 ball than you had in straight pool within my first 2 years and I'm just a run of the mill player. That's not a knock on you or your...

Guaranteed Added Money & Your Feelings on It

That's why they put "$___ added with ___ players". It's common knowledge even when it's not on the flyer. If your question is whether promoters should stand behind the money added regardless of the number of players. My answer is still no - promoting pool tournaments isn't very rewarding and...

    New rails for a GC3

I think I need new rails too. I heard some people have had problems with replacement rails being too low (causes cue ball to jump off the rail) and such. Can anyone confirm if the rails being suggested are "bolt on" for gold crowns or if they need to be raised or have anything else extra done?

How would you have handled this?

The proper ettiquete would've been to tell him since the other tables are taken you're the only action for him and you need the whole world. Use this leverage to highroll him and call him a heartless nit loud enough that the whole room can hear.

    Piston Stroke Info?

From the descriptions, I have a piston stroke. Also agree with Dave about the more constant speed of the pendulum stroke. That's a bigger selling point to me than being easily repeatable.

    Piston Stroke Info?

Ok then! Well I can tell you that the only muscle I consciously contract on my forward stroke is the bicep. Any other movement (which I don't notice) is driven by the bicep and momentum, not the other way around.

    Piston Stroke Info?

I agree with minimizing the complexity of the stroke - but I don't think the piston stroke necessarily involves more muscles. In my case, I contract only my bicep.

    Piston Stroke Info?

I think more spin and less consistent speed control has more to do with rate of acceleration than the pendulum and muscle strokes. For instance I have a muscle stroke, but a fairly low rate of acceleration. You can also break down your stroke to objectify your speed. What did you need help...

    Heart? or Stupidity?

heart if you win, stupidity if you lose  If you felt you could beat him giving up that much weight, personally I would've just considered the lost set an investment and jacked it up afterwards playing a better game. Either way, good story and congrats on your win.

CTE use by pros on live streams

Since all the discussions about aiming systems, I noticed this from the tar and accustats streams: - In Bartrum vs Dennis, Bartrum was pivoting to the left on his practice strokes for his break. His aim line looked like 2nd or 3rd ball of the 10 ball rack IIRC. On his final stroke, he stroked...

    Fatboy Challenge Updates

Yep, that's correct - anyone know when the final is airing?

Any ideas on getting the fatboy stream up?

No fatboy stream last night because of hotel internet issues :frown: Any techies have any ideas? I think when I bought the accu-stats, it re-directed me to a TAR page - so I was thinking if the 2 of them are doing business together, maybe they could stream some fatboy on the TAR table? Off...

    Aiming systems: Why the problems?

I found the aiming threads interesting and informative. I was originally unaware, then opposed to learning an aiming system, but changed my mind due to the feedback.

    Camera recommendations?

I got an Insignia 720p camcorder they sell at best buy for about $120. The SDHC card cost $20 for 16GB. The only downside is it's a bit too zoomed in to see the whole table, but I don't know that the other camcorders would be any different. Edit: Are there camcorders that can "zoom out" or...

aiming systems r like a weight loss plan

This..if you don't like the CTE stuff, no one is forcing you to use it. Personally I've been convinced through the threads to give CTE a try and I probably wouldn't have heard of it otherwise. Btw I think I pocket balls fine as it is.

    Think you're lining up correctly?

Dang I wish I'd known about that book a while back! I changed everything with my alignment including my feet. My foot position was the last thing I did - I worked on getting my arm alignment, then positioned my head over the cue where I wanted, figured out how my stroke would line up, then...

    Pros not telling you everything.....

Probably true and not very surprising. I think an observant student of the game can learn a lot of "secrets" by just watching some matches.

    Is it possible?

If the 7 ball caroms down, good hit. If it caroms up, you can be sure it was a bad hit. Just be sure to mention that before he shoots
