Learn with an aiming system or not

Welcome to the game it's fun and frustrating. Aiming using systems or not has been beat to death in this forum. It's a bit like a religion where there is a lot of emotions and AZ even created it's own forum here. You can find all the info you want in that section. Good luck!

    League pool

Different leagues have different payouts. You should just ask the league operator about the payout structure and then based on the number of people in the league just do the math. But as stated, this is a business. Depending on the league. If the room is running the league, they directly benefit...

    Scotty Townsend stories

Several years ago, Warren Kiamco and Scotty were in Olathe KS for a tournament. They were wolfing at each other trying to match up on the bar table. Warren offered Scotty a spot iirc the 8 ball, and Scotty told Warren I don't need no F***ing spot. He ran over Warren the only set they played. RIP...

    Famous cues

A cue that I would love to see up close or at least pictures was the cue used by Johnny Cash in the made for TV movie from 1980, The Baron and the Kid. When Cash passed away, Sotheby's did an online auction of his estate. He had two cues, one was a plain Adams cue, the other was the one made for...

    The Driller

The only "Driller" that I have known and played once in a tournament, was from Oklahoma. His name was Gary Drennen?. Good player and saw him gamble at Shooters in Olathe against Gary Serville years ago.

Could This Debacle Kill the Mosconi Cup

Well for a long time when the series for started, USA dominated. This Cup was the largest attended event live in it's history, so I doubt it's going anywhere. It might need some tweaking such as expanding the field of players to include Canada.

    Its OOOOOOOOOOOver.....................

Well in Europe they don't miss anything :) Sorry couldn't help it. People criticize because they care and I understand. It's frustrating. It just seems that we can't get that momentum going. I thought we had a chance on the second day and the 3rd match but just couldn't close. No excuses just...

Idea's for a picking Mosconi Cup players for next year

What idea's do any of you have for picking the American team? I've put down an idea that I had. It will be interesting to see what Match Sports does for next years team. Take the top 10 point finishers from the qualifying cup points events. After the US Open, have a Mosconi cup style event...

Landon Shuffett - Please Play Pool

Excellent post Landon. Another option that might be interesting, is to take a year off after you finish school. You are already a great player and year to play in all the big events including taking a shot at making the Mosconi Cup roster might be a good choice. With your background, networks...

We All Lost Dear Friend - Bob Byrne

RIP Bob Byrne. When I was younger and learning (still learning) to play the game, his book the Standard Book of Pool and Billiards was the text on playing. As others have said, he will live on through his contributions and writing.

Oscar Left Out of Mosconi Cup... Again

If I remember correctly (and I might not), but the 8 players agreed before the decision to cut down to 5 to the alternate coaching positions. Instead, they decided not to go because they didn't make the team. If the players had an issue about that set up, the time to make a statement was before...

The wildcard spots have been announced

Justin don't fade some of the rhetoric on here. You deserve to be on the team. Last year the team was competitive and I look forward to a good match this year. Go Team USA! Darryl

    Worst pool video ever...

Several years ago, I was playing at the BCA in the Riv (RIP). Here walks in Jimmy in a bright canary yellow suit with a blond in a bright canary yellow dress. It was quite the sight.

An open conversation on what pool in North America needs and can support.

It's not an all or nothing for pool. You can play as a kid and continue to be competitive as an adult in leagues and tournaments without trying to be a "pro". I don't have kids but I would let them play now as opposed to 20 years ago. The game is morphing into a sport. For the game to grow into...

An open conversation on what pool in North America needs and can support.

I firmly believe it's not marketed correctly. Golf, darts, tennis, baseball, soccer, snooker, and many others can be perceived to be boring to watch. How about fishing tournaments? It's in the presentation and creating a fan base for the players. Right now there isn't money to do this marketing...

An open conversation on what pool in North America needs and can support.

I don't think we need to reinvent the wheel. There are already enough events presently to create a quasi tour. There are a lot of good ideas already presented in this thread. You need to have a product to promote. Use the already existing fairly successful events such as Derby City, US Open...

Have Yale heard the WPA nonsense and the US Open?

"or for any other period specified" whatever that means. I'm (ass)uming that the Dec 31 will be on the contract and can't be changed after signing. It is poor timing but for WPA good timing in the sense most will be forced to sign or not play in the US OPEN which really isn't an option unless...

Issues Blowing Up At The Tornado Open

I like your entry coefficient PEC. The 10,000 first place with a 500 entry would be a PEC of 20 in your example. I think depending on the player there might be other factors involved with playing in the event. Myself, winning the event would be difficult if not impossible. I try to look at the...

    Bucket Ball Cleaner

I've started a little side business cleaning tables and balls for local establishments in my area. I built 2 of the popular homemade ball cleaners with help from a friend who built one for his poolroom. I'm doing a little research and did some searches and found a few instances where people have...
